Title: 2 guns
Post by: Montana Darlin on May 11, 2006, 07:24:27 PM
Thanks all, and especially to Slim for fixing my post.

And since Virginny is 1 gun a month law, and there are 2 people in this house, we can buy 2 guns a month. ;D

now how did that happen??????? I didn't mean to start a new topic, I was just wanting to thank everyone.  :o

Let's get it straight....

Virginia is one HANDGUN per person per month, UNLESS... you have a CCW, then you can buy more than ONE HANDGUN per month.

You can buy more than one long gun or shotgun per month.

Also you can request a waver for a month for example if you want to buy a matching pair like I did when I bought my Ruger Bisleys.  It's just a major pain cause you have to go to the State Police Office to get the form, then fill it out and wait for approval, then you have to give a copy of the approval to the Gun Store.

I kin remember and I ain't that old, wasn't old enough to buy one myself, but remeber going with Dad.  1968 was the end of the era.  To bad we don't require background checks for cars and likker.  More crimes involve cars and likker than guns.

first shotgun I got was through the mail in 1957, 20 ga savage  single shot, from sears.  still remember the morning it came, the mail carrier drove out to the house, got out and waited for me to go in the house and get some shells, we set up a couple of cans and both shot it.  I was 7 years old. did a lot of hunting with it through the years, my son shot with it when he was old enough. still got it in the gun safe.

First gun I owned was ordered through Ace hardware, when I was working for this Mom & Pop hardware back around 69-70..  It was a High Standard .22 with interchangeable barrels.  Wish I still had it, but sold it to pay for flying lessons.

Back in 1974 I ordered a Stevens 311 from JC Penny's in downtown Lincoln.  Was just 18, went down signed the 5744 form, took the box under my are, with the description on it, went up the elavator at the parking garage and took it home, could do the same today if Penny's sold them and was still downtown.

But you have to age them underground in an earthen ware pot for 6 months or they won't have no nuter-tricion in them.  You better call yer County Extension Agency in the mornin' and have them send you a copy of "Starlings, the Other Dark Meat" and get all the facts.  Now don't worry this is a county department, you don't have to worry about the Feds here,  woops fergot, you need to call the "Parish Extension Agency", as I said don't worry, if they are from yer parish they won't send yer name to the CIA.  But don't forget to call them first thing in the mornin'.

I lived at a camp when the first "turkey dogs" came to market in the early 1980's. We got same to try to see if we wanted to serve ta the kids. They weren't fit fer comsumption.  >:( They were probably made by Jerome Foods in Barron, Wiscoooooooonsin. I tried some agin years later and they tasted like ordinary "chicken beak" hot dogs. I'z not a fan of non-beef non-natural casing hot dogs.

Horrified visitors to the Beekse Bergen Safari Park in Amsterdam watched as three Sloth bears captured, mauled and then devoured a Barbary macaque during the zoo's opening hours on Sunday.

The Associated Press reports that the bears chased the large monkey into an electric fence, where it was initially stunned but recovered enough to flee inside a wooden structure. One of the Sloth bears chased the doomed Barbary macaque into that structure where it mauled it to death and then the three bears ate it--in full view of the shocked visitors. The Beekse Bergen Safari Park confirmed the killing. "In an area where Sloth bears, great apes and Barbary macaques have coexisted peacefully for a long time, the harmony was temporarily disturbed during opening hours on Sunday," the Dutch zoo said in an official statement to the media. "Of course the habitats here in the safari park are arranged in such a way that one animal almost never kills another, but they are and remain wild animals."

Marco Berelds, one of the zoo visitors who witnessed the attack, posted a detailed report on the Web complete with photographs. He noted that once the monkey had fled to the structure, which was built of crossing horizontal and vertical poles, zookeepers tried to distract the bear. They failed. Instead, the bear climbed onto one of the horizontal poles and then "used its sharp canines to pull the macaque, which was shrieking and resisting, from its perch," wrote Berelds. It was then eaten by the three Sloth bears. The zoo said it will move the Barbary macaques to another part of the park, reports AP.
