You know that you’re into cas too much when your good clothes are your cowboy clothes.

After being involved in CAS since around 1989 and having been really into good looking duds I've finally gotten to the point that I don't care what folks wear to the matches.  Steam Punk?  OK,  B Western,  Sure.  Anything is fine.  I just wish I could ditch all that and wear my normal jeans, Redwing chukkas, work shirt, and ball cap.

Hasn't the costuming issue has gotten sorta tiresome?

No....

I agree with Major2 - clothing style is a huge part of the fun of the game.

However, my everyday clothing includes vest, boots, southwest style jewelry, old-timey style shirts and a decorated fedora,
so I am probably not exactly a "mainstream" sort of dresser anyway.

On the occasions when we go out "fancy", I usually include either a frockcoat or greatcoat and a victoreana style dress hat...

Hey Professor,
I mocked up a cartridge box for a steam punk cap and ball carbine, but have yet to make it.   It is for my carbine back a page or two.   Feel free to use for your project.

Ah Hey Mogo ....  ;D

Would you be terribly upset were I also to use your template for some Cartridge Box Labels ??  ::)

With a couple of word changes, that Label would be perfect for the C45S cartridges I shoot in my Henry Trapper.  Just flat super FUN!!

I would be overjoyed if it were spread and updated as needed for the user.   If I post it, it is up for grabs.    I made this when my carbine was in the design infancy stages, but it and the label came to mind after we did a Firefly marathon here at work.  Small group of young'uns, had never heard of Serenity, Firefly nor Browncoats, so another group of nerds educated them at lunch for a couple of weeks.   During that, I came up with Reynold's Renowned Revolving Rifle.  (love iteration).  I still want to tweek the carbine and while I am a lousy writer, I even had an outline for an alternate Cthulu history, where the Alamo did not fall and Texas was the last bastion of hope.    The rifle and airship (made from the body of a thunderbird) feature prominently.

Then I am pretty sure the medication kicked in and I went back to work.

Gentlemen, I LOVE the cartridge boxes and am thoroughly enjoying this thread. Sounds like it would be perfect for campaigning a C96 Mauser, wouldn't it?

Since the subject has resurfaced ..

I need to fabricate another Steam Punk pistol , for another theme party my daughter will attend.

I still have the one shown a page or two back. My thoughts are leaning toward a C96 or Luger though I not set in concrete on the idea.
So far just bright color plastic junk.

Sadly there just to few cool metal guns

However I did see this one  :-\

good surface area for gears etc. and it resembles a 1917 Colt

Alas, any C96s out there that are decent replicas are usually snatched up by Star Wars fans to make Han's blaster.    This actually caused the loss of some shootable real C96s in the 90s and early 2000s as people bought serviceable pistols and converted them to props.    )-;

That makes me think, I would not "dress up" my Bolo C96, but I do have a plastic BB shooting version of a Broomie that would be just the ticket! Got it for less than $5 on fleabay a while back.

I'm kinda stuck wondering how to "Steampunk" my outfit without going deep into the genre. Or is that not the way to do it?

I'm not interested in gussying up my guns with gears, gongs, etc., but my basic clothing. I'm already wearing 'Steampunk' welding googles on my hat.

I don't want to clutter up my body with things that might catch on props or guns.

What are some of you doing ..... ?

PJ, what about a leather cuff on your jacket sleeves or a safari type jacket?

Maybe check out Youtube (specifically ItsatrapUK).   They do some steampunk tutorial builds.    There is a build out there for a pith helmet which flips open to hold a cup of tea.  Now that is steampunk.  I have seen some phone cover builds and similar items.  My wife will tell you, like Pinterest, Youtube is not my friend and my time with it should be limited.
