Due to a left shoulder that needs to be replaced, and probably not going to, I'm embarking on building a new Crossdraw rig. I know the "Safety Police" will be on me like a chicken on a June bug,
I'll be trying best I can to make it SASS legal. The left holster will be moved forward, and mounted high, and I know about the 30 degree rule, ang I'll have to adapt to a different shooting stance.
Shotshells mounted in front, buckle in back, and a knife sheath somewhere. Perhaps a couple loops for an extra catridges, and mounts for 'Spenders.
What am I missing? Any tips or 'Don't Do's" accepted......... ;D

Other than remembering that the 30 degree rule is relative to the ground, not the belt, you have it. If your belt is at an angle, that will affect the 30 degrees some.
I find when drawing, if there is a significant angle, like right at 30 degrees, the draw is more of a side motion with your shoulder and arm. The more vertical the draw, the more the draw is done with your elbow, moving your hand upwards. You may want to try holding a holster at different angles and different positions with your left hand until you decide which is best for you. Then make your holster accordingly. You may like 15 or 20 degrees better than say, 10 or 30. There is no right or wrong there, just your preference. Another factor to consider is how far forward it will be. In other words how far you want to twist when drawing and rte-holstering. Remember the holsters must be "located one on each side of the belly button and separated by at least the width of two fists at the belt."
I look forward to seeing what you end up with.

Good luck with your new rig and your shoulder. Glad you want to adapt and not throw in the towel. Over the years I have shot Cowboy matches with guys in their mid to high eighties. I'm using them (and your circumstance) as an example to follow my own advice!

So far I have the holster almost done. Figured I'd be needing it to set up the gun belt part.

Well, this is what I ended up with.

Looks good, Bob. Suspenders, too. That should be a comfortable rig. Do you cross the suspenders or wear them straight?

At this point, I'm still pondering that. I'm open to suggestions. Pros, cons, I'm in uncharted waters ...........

Just make sure if you are talking to someone from Europe, you refer to suspenders as braces. Suspenders are what they call garter belts. When I said I had bought some nice leather suspenders, I sure did get some cross-eyed comments!

I've seen several guys with them but never noticed how they were used. It might be smart to cross them at the back, perhaps held with a Chicago screw or something. It would depend on placement of the straps on the belt. You may want to play with different configurations.

Also, what all else is hanging on your belt, and where is it located?

I'm thinking if I cross them, they will show me where. A lot less "Engineering".

There isn't much room for other stuff. What else are you thinking of?
My garters are under my pants, for no one to see.......... ;D

Well, that's probably the best approach. If you're lucky, they might not need any connection across the back. When you figure it out, a photo of it on would be good to see.
