I figured maybe if I started the thread, I would get notifications when Y'all post,
Happy Easter and make sure you check the foil wrapped eggs to make sure they haven't been replaced with grapes

What a cruel joke even on such a foolish day.

My photobucket account has locked me out.  Can’t share easter photos...

Happy Easter all.

Weather is 70 and sunny in this first day of April.  Had our normal Sunday city trip, and it was over 80 down there.

Putting ham in the oven in just a few minutes.  In the mean time, I'm going to walk the dog.

I'll stir the coals for the early crew.

I'm up late waiting for the dog to dry off.  My two year old Labrador just had her first taste of skunk.  She's had a bath in Technu poison oak/ivy treatment and peroxide, and another with baking soda and dog shampoo.  So far it's taken the smell down a few notches, from "overpowering" to "definitely still there but she's allowed in the house."

Oddly enough, the skunk followed her after the fact, and was coming down the trail after us.  Never had that happen before.  It didn't show any signs of rabies, but had I been heeled there would be one less skunk in our world.

If only skunks believed in April fool's.  :-X

Scales on a boning knife, after light staining and first coat of oil.

Arrows show top, grain runs bottom to top, then top to bottom.

Life is too short to use crappy wood. ;D

This was a bit of a surprise when sanded, stained and oiled.

Evening all.

65 and sunny today.  I'd almost thought spring was here for real, but we're forecast for more rain/sn*w this weekend.  On the coast they're forecast for up to 7 inches of rain.  I'm thinking it may be a good time for a trip to the salt flats or something.

Some are about finished, some have 1 coat of linseed oil, but I have this many final sanded and stained if I thought they needed it.

Wood varies between Eastern Black Walnut, Northern California Black Walnut (Claro Walnut) Old World Walnut of different cultavars and Old World x Eastern Black Walnut hybrid (Royal Walnut).

Will have to final polish the blades and hone.

Got more to refurbish as I have time and got some saw blades recently to make some blanks to copy a couple of these old knives.

Got enough walnut to last a while yet and can get reasonable priced Eastern Black Walnut at a local mill.

Wanted some more Old World and Claro and been looking a bit.  Once again the damned Yuppies are messing things up.  Latest thing for the Prius drivers is what is called live edge tables or as I call them ugly crap and a waste of good wood.  Yep they have run the price of walnut up. >:(

Tree hunting, may have one found I can have for help cutting it.  Waiting to see if the sister decides on it's removal.  Got time. Need to cut it in winter.  $120 an hour for the sawing, 2 years of air dry in the garage attic and my retired cuz has the saws and planer to make more usable pieces.

Picture is a Yuppie table.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are hot.

Dusting so far. Downgraded to 6"-8".

'Tis 28 and flurries. "Blustery. Snow likely in the morning  then snow in the afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times in the afternoon. Snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches. Highs in the middle 30s. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent."

Don’t get your shorts and flip flops out yet Slim...

Del we use to make furnishing out of sawmill discarded slabs. The rest was firewood. It use to be free for the hauling away. They charge a pretty penny for it now.

Morning got behind on chores my tank run out of air. So i came in and found the one i was charging had popped off, and not filled. So waiting to get a refill, then return to chores.
