Thanks for the coffee Slim

Seems everyone has a good story to tell from the weekend.

Slim are horses going on a trip? Coggins? I use to hold the horses for Vet at sale barn, while he drew blood, then pen them..

Major looks like you have a history lesson to complete

TK - never lock your doors and never get locked out.
Have to get Coggins test for the fair.

Didn?t catch video yesterday- but the same on the second.

Pollen has made everything outdoors green. But it is still nice out- needing a little rain
As much as we had last 2 months it is already drying up.

Took the last measure of the mountain sn*w pack yesterday.  The Reno Basin is at 168% and higher up, the Tahoe basin is at 186%.  Should have plenty of water this summer.  Now we just have to hope we don?t get a lot of warm rain to melt it all off, or we?ll be seeing our share of this spring?s flooding.

Morning all.

Cloudy and 35 today. One more class today and then I get to take a nap. I've worked to 1am for the past 4 days, then had classes that require getting up at 7.

Had my first solo to the practice area yesterday. I got out and started my maneuvers only to find that sometime between then and my preflight inspection, the stall horn had decided to stop working. So my flight got cut short, but I made it back to the ground in one piece, and the airplane is reusable (after they fix the stall horn).

Busy day so far.

Had the lawn aerated.  Now it looks like a herd of terriers all pooped all over the yard.

Then I went to the Doc and had an endoscopy.  I guess all my upper innards are still there, as he let me go home.

The significant other is now out getting new patio furniture.  I would be doin? it but the Doc won?t let me drink and (I mean ?or?) drive until tomorrow.  I guess the ?Some assembly required? is still on my list of can do this afternoon so I  know what I?ll be doin? this afternoon.

There's something going whacko.  It might have been leftovers from my anesthesia or whatever.  I got "?" sinstead of " ' " s, and also picked up the wrong quote.

Got out of the "some assembly required" for the furniture, as she doesn't want to put it out on the patio yet.  However the new lawn edger is due tomorrow, so I get to put it together and put it to use on Saturday.

We'll see if this post comes out a little more like I hope it will.

The "Some assembly required" caught up to me.  "She who changes her mind" decided to put the patio furniture out, so I had to put it all together this afternoon.  It's done and out.  However, I did get a reprieve on the lawn edger.  It won't show up until Monday, so I won't even have to perform the edging duties this weekend.  Thank you FEDEX for only making it to Salt Lake City today.

Made it to great falls.  It took much longer than it should have because of getting stuck behind semis in the wind, but oh well.

Tomorrow we're on to paperwork, and maybe a ride in a C-130.

We looked all that evening and all week. put out the word , fliers, local Vets , turned out She had not gone far at all
probably never left the acreage , but hid out in the wooded area...
too freeked out to respond to calls.
One week to the day she showed up , dirty, scruffy , mighty hungry, and much to my wife's delight ....

Shot my first CAS match of the year, started out poorly, but got better as we went. I ended up with 4 misses for 6 stages with 3 misses on one stage. My first stage was a train wreak, with the pistols giving me fits, But got past that and my times got faster. Not to where I'd like them, but since I haven't shot since Oct of last year, I'll take what I can get. Weather was perfect for a CAS match.

Wife and I retired today, wasn't planned just happened that way, seemed like a good idea. ::)

Still does, I am planning on finding a PT that will let me have time to do demos.

Actually been brewing since January for both of us, things have happened with our jobs that pushed us that way.

Still looks like if I get a PT we will have more money and she is going to set up her retirement to cover house payment.

Well, FedEx came through on it's threat to deliver the lawn edger yesterday, thus ending my deferment from "Some Assembly Required".  Got it put together and tested it on a short stretch of sidewalk to make sure it functioned.  Now I get to wait out some small showers before attacking the rest of the sidewalks. It looks like this reprieve will only be for today as the forecast is for partly cloudy to full sun for the next 10 days.

I am having trouble staying focused The anxiety from my health and now with my dog being missing is really got me down. Then last evening, Suzanne went to Pizza Hut to pick up our meal. She asked if I wanted to ride along, I declined. Since I would had to prepare a tank to go. While she was gone, just before sun down. I let the remaining three dogs out, the sister to missing one, the 12 year old blind in one eye Yorkie, a 15 year old totally deaf Maltese Cross dog. Yorkie did her business and stumbled back in. The GS sat on steps. The deaf dog i last seen wander into a Brushy wood lot that bounders the yard. I never seen come back. No sense yelling her name she can?t hear. So I went put shoes on and grabbed my O2 tank. Out I went it is dark now. In meantime Suzanne returns and I see her stop to close the chicken house for the night. She yells at me, to see if I am okay. So I help her take stuff in the house. She said she?d go look for her. She went in living room and the mutt was laying on my chair. She apparently snuck in when I came for my Oxygen tank. My wife thinks I am getting senile. I may be, but the anxieties are just overwhelming. All the treatments in the world only give temporary relieve. The dog was always by my side when I was here at the house and she kept me laughing and I really miss her. This adds to my state.
Sorry if I bored you all here. Just needed to express this out.

Major2 your .25 ejects, thru port on right?  I have 2 here both the Barrel tips up and ejects. You must also chamber first round manually. Both would be useless in a real gunfight. But if you were held down and could get to it. You could change a man?s religion with it.
Title: Re: April Coffee and "Pity the Fools "
Post by: Major 2 on April 14, 2019, 02:33:17 PM
Yes , ejects thru a port on right, however the barrel is fixed one piece to the frame does not tip like the Beretta 25.
It holds 7 in the Mag and one in the tube.

not quite "useless "- Could you change a man's religion with it ?  maybe if in few days he realizes he's shot and gets PISSED !

Post by: litl rooster on April 14, 2019, 03:23:44 PM
Yes the Berette and the Tarus both tip up- no slide action about them.
They say never take a knife to a gun fight. I think i?d rather depend on a good blade than one of the .25?s however they are both fun to shoot. Ten to 15 feet maximum

Evening all.

Rainy day in Billings. That's really all there is to say about the weather.

Went to a gun show today. Intentionally left all my money at home. There were some nice guns there, but naturally all overpriced.  But I think I may have convinced my uninterested-in- shooting girlfriend to give a 22 a try.  Who knows, maybe for Christmas I'll get her a pistol.  ::)

One convert at a time  :)

No gun show weekend for me, but I did happen to see a numbered 1917 Erfurt Luger Magizine in mint cond.
It is 1503 (later) off matching the number on my gun  :(  the guy is mighty attached to it thought....$$$.00.
I have one original mag. #ed to my gun, and range mag. The Original's wood base however is cracked so I don't use it.
It would be nice to have another original  :-\ but at near 6X's the cost of a new made range mag. guess not !

Local place  ESTERN AUTO ( had been a Western Auto but the W was taken off when the owner went franchise less )
The guy had a number of N8 & N9  from fine ground up restorations, to work tractors painted with a brush.
He was old then, some 25 years ago.
You'll still see a few of his passion about the area, but the old guy closed his doors , and the place is Jiffy Lube now, new building and all.
I wanted a 48 model he'd spruced up, but it was another fellows and NFS  :(

Back in 96 for their Golden Jubilee  they contacted all known owners to find the oldest still working  one in the US and tractor shows didn't  count.

Well, the weather finally let me down, and I had to put the new edger to use.  Got 5 bags of encroaching sod off the sidewalk (some almost 2" thick)!  I really need to keep ahead of this stuff.

Also spread 8 bags of processed Milwaukee river water over the lawn.  Followed up by testing the watering system (the sprinkler heads all still work).  I hope the grass will hold off on needing mowing until I get back from Indy and the NRA Annual Meeting.

My Grandpa, on my Mom's side had a Ferguson, but wasn't all gray, it was gray and red. It was a 20, did they make a TO-20? That's what I seem to remember it being. Sickle mower, brush hog and blade. He also had an Allis "G", the small one with the engine in the back. He just used it with a trailer, and it tended to rear up going uphill.

My uncle also had a couple of Oliver crawlers, one the standard one, and the other was extra wide, and a Super 55 oliver, built like an 8N Ford on steroids.

Sunny here, waiting for the garden to dry out some. Was dry enough about a week or 10 days ago, but, found one of the tiller tires had "let go" over the winter. Split open about 5-6". And tines were worn out. Quick trip to ebay, got tires and tubes, and tines in earlier this week. All assembled now, even changed the engine and gearbox oil, I figured about 35 years is a good "oil change frequency" for the gear oil..... ::)
Only way I had to refill it through the small hole hidden behind the left wheel, was an oil squirt gun with a flexible nozzle. Took almost a gallon of gear oil, and an hour of time, many, many refills of the oil can. Someone else can do it for the next 35 year service. ;D

Thanks for the coffee....

Up watching the sun rise. Suzanne brought home some Guinea Keets yesterday they are in the brooder with some chicks. Going to go uncover it when temp gets up to 60. Only 52 now. Then to mens bible study.

Guineas are noisy birds make good alarms. Eat their weight in bugs daily. Also along with goat are pretty tastie. :D

They are hard on snakes also.

Have some Jerry Jeff.

Afternoon all.

Broken clouds and wind today. No flying, but the 70 degrees of ambient temperature isn't too bad.

Today is the date of my emergence from my mother's loins, an event which took place 21 years ago. So my present to me is a box of 9mm.

Happy Birthday Kid.

Just remember the basics.

There are no more useless things than:

1) Altitude below you.
2) Runway behind you.
3) Fuel in a fuel truck on the ground.

I think I had a Senior Moment when I was trying to remember the rules.  Number 1 was suppose to be:

Altitude above you.

Morning! Coffee is ready.

Another warm start here in the heart of Dixie, 64 at 06:20. Chance of rain increases today.

Russ T I believe they are all good rules. However if my butt is in the plane fuel is my big concern. Unknowingly back in the 70?s got in a plane with the owner at his home. In the air he says don?t be alarm but I have to get fuel.  We flew across the county to a airport and got fuel. He apparently knew how much time he had. I did not.

Turning out to be a nice day here. Suzanne is running the zero turn.  I helped her earlier take down a garden fence, then roll it up.  Took care if the chicks and refilled bird feeder. I think a nap is in order.

Morning coffee is up - maybe some bacon and waffles this morning. With real maple syrup. That?s after everything else gets fed.

Moved out one of the bird feeders yesterday and replaced with a humming bird feeder.  I literally was hanging it when it?s first visitor arrived.  Now have 3 active  hummingbird feeders. Squirrels are mad I took the one feeder down....

Several folks out here have birds, you can hear them before dawn off in the distance.
We did not have one until this morning, when this guy showed up from unknown parts.
He's been crowing his feathered head off.... ::)
He must of wandered off, I thinking the closest place would be a 1/2 mile off, or maybe someone dumped or maybe someone may come looking for him.

No clue as to breed , but he's good looking rooster

Afternoon all.

Warm and windy here. Not flying today because of the wind.

We have some fowl on campus the last few days as well. Mostly Mallards, and a single turkey tom.

My plans for the day include not doing much and then working 8-3.

Morning coffee is ready... 62 to start the day.

Use to be a chicken that lived in the shrubs at my doctors office.  While in Virginia- I had to leave my vehicle at mechanics, he also ran a body shop on the same compound. Went their to pick up and was greeted in parking lot by a Peacock. He stated it flew in there one day and never left. Only feeding it scraps. They are way too noisy for me to own. He looked kind of fancy fanning his tail in front of body shop.

Lesson for today, if using a K-cup style brewer. Assure the vessle in which you drink from is in place before hitting brew button.  I did the other day, my wife just learned.

A Peacock, showed up here some years ago. we named him Pete...
The owner( neighbor Lady) came by one day about a week or so in and claimed him...She said she had two and they don't get along.

He returned about a week later, and stayed with us for several years from then on.... he'd roost in pine
with a branch about 14 feet up ... He survived Hurricane Charley, hunkered down somewhere, but about two weeks later during Hurricane Frances he disappeared. We tried to herd him into the barn, as we were preparing but he'd have none of it !
Never knew what became of him... may have been blown on off , moved on ....
or died..
Never smelt anything fowl though !  ;D

Had to go to the "Pain management" Sawbones today, they did 4 shots in my sacroiliac joints. Don't know if it's working yet, It hurt like hell when he injected the steroids in the left side. Time will tell if it makes any difference.

Heavy rain off and on this afternoon. If it keeps up tonight, I'll probably have to drive the long way to work tomorrow.

Blazer died and wouldn't start on the mail route today. Bad battery. I must be doing something right, though. It died with 11 days left on it's free replacement warrantee.

Maj EA, I've had those steroids pumped into several portions of my anatomy, and they usually hurt. Worst was in my right heel-felt like they put a half gallon of that stuff in there!
