Birchwood Casey 31002 Lead Remover and Polishing Cloth

Likely everyone knows this by now but me.

Been shooting a pair of the matte nickel Rodeo IIs recently.
And cleaning them with the B-C lead cloth.

The cloth is a very mild abrasive which takes off blue in short order if you rub very hard.  Have also used it intentionally to take the blue off Rodeo I guns.  But on the nickel guns it is polishing the finish up enough that the "matte" on the nickel is beginning to disappear.   Getting very close in look and feel to polished bright nickel.  Next thing to happen is the nickel will be gone I suspect but sure looks and feels good right now.

So ....... If you're well aware you're actually removing the nickel finish, WHY keep doing it  Planning on a "re-finish??"

Rhetorical question I suppose.
It aint that fast... likely not in my life time even shooting and cleaning them a lot.

Decent nickel is a might harder to rub off than blue.

Ah So Obe Wan!!  Then I can well understand.  The appearance your getting from the polish cloth is much more pleasing than the original
nickel USFA sent the guns out with.  I always thought the guns gave a sort of "chintzy" appearance.  Of course, in the same vein, I
personally don't care for the original flat finish on the Rodeo.  Even though I understand the "why?" I'm just not real enamored.

The "satin" nickel looks much more "finished."

I, for one, am going to give it a try!  My Double Eagle, originally ordered in bright nickel, was delivered with the satin nickel, Rodeo II, finish.  Would love to polish out that sandblasted look of the Rodeo II finish.  Looks like this may be the way to do it.

Love the looks of your SAA.  Much like the matte nickel finish offered by Nutmeg Sports.  Just ordered some BC 31002 (ain't the Internet wonderful).  How long did you have to work at it to get that "smoother" look to the nickel finish?  Wish me luck!
