I recently picked up a OMV at a gun show with a 7.5" barrel. The gun just really caught my eye. Well, I decided to make a new holster for it today for one of my belts I wear most. This was one of the first belts I made and it is so comfortable that I wear it often. Its not a real thick belt but it wears so nice that I havent made an upgraded version of it yet.
Anyways, here is the holster. I wanted something similar to a holster that I seen in Packing Iron. Kind of rough around the edges with some primitive stampings.

That looks darn good, Rube. A fine pattern assembled right. Great job matching that existing belt. Thumbs-up!
Is that a Vaquero or a New Vaquero?

Thank you. The revolver is one of the old model vaqueros. 1994 if I remember correctly.

Those are built like tanks. Probably last forever. Good purchase.

Yeah, I really like the old models other than the address on the side of the barrel. I have a pair of 4 5/8” in 357 also.
I don’t know why Ruger went to that matte black finish on some of the newer ones.

For the ones that don't have the Packing Iron book here is the holster I loosely based it off of.

Brings back a memory, I had a pair of Stainless 7 1/2" 45 cal. OMV's, one I bought as a lightly use consignment
for $300 and the other brand spanking new for $325 out the door.
They were my first SASS guns about 1991. I made the Slim Jim holsters.
Played the game, but sold them in 1999. solid performers, but I longed for Conversions.
The Vacarro's owed me nothing, as I doubled my money when they went to their new home. ;)

While I love the Vaqueros and they are built like tanks the open top colts are my favorite revolvers.

Nice job on the holster. Those OMV with a 7 1/2 barrel are not easy to come by. Nice outfit.

Very nice and clean work Ruby, like Will pointed out, like a tank, and they’ll take a stiffer load too
