carpal tunnel thoughts

Hey guys, I had a hand and arm nerve test last week and it appears I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. Been going dead or partially dead at night. Bad thing for a duelist shooter. I still have 95% of my feeling with just a little loss in my thumb and trigger finger. The doctor today suggested wearing a splint at night. It hasn’t impacted my shooting so I can’t blame it for my misses, yet. I picked up a splint and have been wearing it since I got it. I would appreciate any thoughts from any cascity members who are also dealing with it. Thanks.

I had carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand as well....I got the Comfy Brace ™ splint .
It has an aluminum form fit stiffener, with a spandex sleave and 3 Velcro closer.
It took about 6 months but, I don't have the carpal tunnel anymore...
I also have a padded mouse pad with a palm rest that takes the pressure of computer work off my wrist.

I was told that the surgery takes 6 to 7 months recovery to completely improve, so I wanted to avoid that if at all possible.... I thank my lucky stars.
I hope it works just as well for you. 


Presently, I have Cubital Tunnel Syndrome which is Ulnar Nerve Entrapment in my left arm.
This is when the Ulnar nerve is pressured at the Elbow, causing the left hand little and ring finger to tingle.
Only happens at night/early morning if I slept on my left elbow.

I've had the surgery to correct bot the elbow and hand in my left hand a few years ago. Took about two months to feel comfortable shooting a 22 revolver. It has healed completely and I now can handle any of my 45 Colt loads with no problem. I will have to have it in my right hand soon, as I am now seeing the effects coming along in my right hand too. My left hand's recovery has me not worrying about the surgery that I will have on the right.

Yup, been there, got that. Little finger on the left hand always a bit tingly.

The pressure is on the bottom of your elbow, if I put a pad or soft blanky under my joint it does not go to sleep.

I had the surgery about 1 1/2 years ago and I'm glad I did.  About two to three month recovery time before I could shoot full house 45 Colts and no problems ever...

I had both hands and elbows done. It took a year to get the scar tissue to not hurt when firing anything bigger than a .22. Now after several years I am glad I had to do the surgery, no numbness and i am back to shooting stupid things like Dragoons and .45-70s...

Been wearing my splint day and night. Wear it at work too. FYI you cannot wipe your butt wearing a splint.

When ever I experienced pain on the right from running a mouse I learned to use a right hand mouse with my left hand.  By trading off I have avoided surgery and so far it hasn't had a bad effect on my shooting.

I've had three CP surgeries, two on the right and one on the left.  First on the right was in the late 1990s.  That hand had to be done again as the ortho guy didn't do a good job...didn't release the whole nerve.  For the left hand and eventually the right hand again I went to the best hand and wrist specialist I could find.  Last surgery he did was about -05 or -06.  Haven't had any problems since it was finally done correctly.  I shoot full power black powder 45 Colts one handed with that same right hand.
