Rick I have several knives, most I have made over the years but I do have a couple of those bowies that would put a smile on your face. Made out of 3/8 carbon steel from off my brush hog. One has a 14 inch blade and the smaller one is 10.5 inches, sort of a matching set you might say. Now both have stag handles on them with blood groves. The largest is 3 inches wide, tapering back smaller to the handle.
I like carbon steel, more authentic in my eyes and very easy to dress the edge back to being super sharp. They don't fracture like those stainless blades do and I don't like shinny no how. The smaller one I wear in the side of my boot, the larger goes in my belt on the opposite side to keep me balanced when I walk.
