Would you stay overnight at a shoot?
« on: April 22, 2004, 04:11:30 PM »
Howdy,

Would you like to sleep the night before or after?  Maybe both?
If you did, would you want your own tent or camper?  Would you stay in a cabin or bunkhouse?  How much would you pay?

Just working on the club range and wondering..
Adios,

Depends on where and what the accomodations and the whether are, and how far to the match, etc.  My preference is a hotel.

Howdy Hext!

We just got a pop-up and I have taken it to the last 2 away matches I have gone to. The only down side to this is most ranges don't have water hook-ups. My lovely bride doesn't like to give up her morning shower. ::)

On the other hand, my wife saw an article about a club in TX (I think it was in SHOOT) that had sleeping accomidations(sp) at the range for a nominal fee. She though that would be a place to check out.
Time to fold,

So a bunkhouse doesn't hold much appeal to y'all..  ???
Sounds like most would want trailer hook ups at a range campgrounds.

A bunkhouse?  Nah, I want a private room, especially if I bring my wife!  Don't wanna distract all them others with the click click click of dry firing.

I don't think you'd better.  My wife is on the other side of the table and she's cleaning a gun.  There's even a small pile of ammo next to her :o

I would have to agree with my fellow lawdog.   A motel near the range with a good bed, a hot shower, and a frig.   The RV is on the horizon when I retire from the "Lawdog Bidness".

Well I'll jump in here and say a bunkhouse.  At one of the annuals I shoot there are about 8-10 of us that stay in a bunkhouse on the range.  The bunkhouse has enough bunks that we all get a bottom bunk and there are showers plus a full kitchen.  All of this is rather new and and the beds are even comfortable.

I would Cowboy Up and sleep on the ground in good weather, as long as I could wake up to coffee and a shower.

Just need a reasonably level spot to park the motorhome, and no low hanging tree limbs across the roads.

A motel or nice cabin would be my preference. I have not been able to get the little lady involved with CAS but who knows, maybe one day we will travel to one of the big events... :D

Depending on the distance we have to travel and time we have:
either the motorhome or motel.

Flat level terrain is a must!

Info about where to dump tanks is an extra bonus.

A well designed bunk house is fun to stay in......that's one of the resaons I like shooting at the BVD's.....they shoot on a Sunday and we used to go down on either friday or Saturday.......visit, shoot and generally have fun on Saturday, then continue into the night, then get up Sunday and shoot a match.....lots of fun, I haven't been in a while, but me and Cody and sure gonna start making it one of our regular places again if we can.....only problem right now with it is the shoot on Sunday and drive back in so I can get to work by 8PM Sunday night.
Well..........Bye!

The Oakwood Outlaws, between Buffalo and Palestine. They are located 170 miles away from our home in Houston; we stay at the range every month. It's a great range, and super people. The  Texas State Rifle Association match is going to be held there over Labor Day weekend this year.

I agree with the good Capt. on a flat place and no low brush . Electric is a plus but if not available we have a generator . We like to get to the shoot the night before . Some clubs won't let us camp at the range but most will .
