Options for the 1876
« on: January 05, 2023, 11:26:16 AM »
I thought I might list my suggestions that Uberti might take into consideration for the 1876.
1) lighter trigger pull or a set trigger option. I lightened the trigger  on my old Uberti 45 60 I had many years ago and it sure improved accuracy.
2)Pistol grip option
3) shotgun butt option.
4) wood upgrade option
5) barrel length options.
6)magazine length options
Any  other ideas? I'd gladly pay extra for any of these options.

Due to their relatively low production numbers of the '76, I can't see Uberti making any changes.  Nice wish list, though.  And I think you can special order upgraded wood on most any Uberti.

A very interesting thread.  What fun to ask for options.  You covered all the biggies in my mind.
1) checkering option?  Maybe you already had that in mind with the wood upgrade
2) sling swivels

I have stocked guns full time for a living since '96. I'm so burnt out I'd prefer somebody else do it! :P

Now I wouldn't mind a Shotgun butt and pistol grip. I always order a butt cover with the shotgun adapter in it, which is nothing more than a couple small pieces of leather sewed in. It makes the LOP a bit longer, which I really like as I'm a fairly large fella. Fancy wood is nice to look at but I wouldn't want it for a rifle I use and shoot alot. My Presidio has a bunch of dings in it already and I've only had it a year or 2. Things just get bumped. I like the shorter barrels too. My full length 45/75 has a new/to/me 20" barrel to get put on this year some time. The Presidio has a 20" and the 45/60 has a 22", much handier than a 28".

Greetings All,

I will throw in a wish for few sight options as factory option wishes - even though these too can be done aftermarket with no problem.  Winchester offered a variety of sight options for the 76.  Now I can't name them all but it would be a nice touch to see such offered as upgrades when ordering a rifle.  Alas I think with the low production rate from Uberti a wish list is all this will be but it is fun to dream!! As Mr. King noted, a good gunsmith and deep pockets can take care of lots of these wishes, sights too.

P.B.

How about a Roosevelt Model with pistol grip checkering and button mag. I believe he used one in the Dakotas in the 1880s?

I saw one somewhere online that Cimarron had made for a guy a few years ago. It wasn't a Turnbull, but it was FANTASTIC and fraction of the price.

Wouldn't that be basically a CCHed Presidio? Add a pistol grip.

A few years ago Cimarron did have a Teddy Roosevelt commemorative '76.  It was 26" barrel, 45-75, and laser-engraved, or at least that was the description on their inventory list.  I don't know what the buttstock configuration was, as I never saw one.  The model number was CA2505TR.  I don't see it on their website, but then their website is missing many things.

How about chamber one in 50-70- especially in a carbine length barrel.
