Title: Should I or Shouldn't I Miruko 92
Post by: cpt dan blodgett on January 11, 2021, 09:11:45 PM
Have a Rossi 92 Carbine 44 Mag and a rossi octo barred rifle 44 mag.  Just do round out the collection don't I really need a Miruko Carbine 44 Mag.  The other two could break during a match

Is this a trick question? OF COURSE you should get a new gun.  ;)

may have to wait a bit.  In honor of my safe return (agent orange not withstanding) from RVN 50 years ago in Dec the AR15A1 I ordered finally arrived Tuesday.  A few months before I can drop another major purchase.

That is a worthy cause for delay -- and celebration.

1 year later, found a Winchester (Miroku) 1892 44 mag 20 inch Carbine should be in hand next week.  Went to Cabelas yesterday to see if they could order one.  They don't do special orders since Bass Pro took over.  He asked what I wanted looked on the computer and found one and only one in the entire network.  Called the store, the gun had arrived the day before and had not been un packed.  CC number email and phone number and about 3 min and said rifle is heading to Glendale Cabelas.

Isn't it GRAND when a plan works out?  Congrats :D

Last year about this time, I found a Browning 1895 (Miroku), as new in box from 1982.
A phone call to the Omaha Cabela's, to check its availability, I learned it had several inquiries but no deposits as yet.
Debit Card and some Cabela bucks and its was winging it way to me to scratch an itch on my bucket list.... ;D

I have been looking for a Winchester/Miroku 1873 Carbine in 44 WCF for a couple years.  Came across a very nice (dark wood) '73 rifle during the search and bought it.  Love the rifle but the desire for the carbine continues.  I can only hope I get lucky someday as the Cpt did.

Several years ago found a refurbed miroku 73 carbine in 44-40 came from cabelas and still had the winchester plastic on the barrel.  Have no clue what the refurb was.  Perhaps ordered paid for and returned to cabelas looks pristine to me.  Wish I could get ruger to fit 44-40 cylinders in my OMVs

There are 9mm cylinders available for the Blackhawk. Maybe find a couple of those and have a gunsmith ream them out to .44-40?

 :)  Deacon  ;)

Are you speaking of After-Market cylinders (expensive)??  Ruger in their infinite wisdom won't sell cylinders to the unwashed masses.  Ruger will "fit" cylinders to your gun, usually same same caliber but wouldn't fit a 9 to a 44.

Hiya Coffin! I have run across some 'orphans' those presumably separated from Blackhawk conversions for sale in the past. I was not aware of aftermarket ones for the Vaquero/Blackhawk.

Just looking through my safe and I have a spare 44 magnum cylinder for a Vaquero. I was thinking the magnum case was bigger, but then looked at the dimensions and that coil work for reaming out to 44-40.

:)  Hey there Hi there again Deacon.  Yep, there is some fella advertising and making cylinders for Rugers.  I forget who he is and don't have his contact info.  I do know his cylinders cost an Arm, a Leg and yer first born.

Orphans often show on eBay.  Not real cheap either.

Oops.  Seams we have drifted this thread some.

PS:  YES!!  You should, as soon as possible.  What were we talking about anyway??

Go over the SASS wire immediately.   Someone is trying to sell two 9mm cylinders for an OMV.

I came across a Large Loop Winchester 92 20" Carbine in 45 Colt. Put it in Layaway and should have it out in approx. 3 weeks. They are expensive rifles but It is a very well made rifle. They also had a Rossi 92 45 Colt Carbine. I did not hesitate on the Winchester though. Can't wait to get her out of jail.

Good on you, you will look like lucas McCain once out of jail.  I will post update when mine arrives, thankfully no waiting period in AZ one of the few remaining free stated. Having concealed carry helps also

Same here in Kentucky. No wait either. I have a CCDW but if in state you do not even have to have the Canceled Carry

Silly me did not ask if the Win 92 carbine I ordered from Bass Pro in Springfield Mo was the small lever carbine, It was not it is the twin brother brothers of JStanfields pictured above.  Love the fit ant finish and seems as slick as a slicked up by NKJ Rossi.  $138 later and a week or so will have the small lever from winchester.   May need a tad of fitting.  NKJ told me to put the new lever on bottom put the current lever on top, pin the levers together with locking lug and bolt pins scripe contour of current lever on the new on remove the high spots.  I have a 44 mag 245 grain SWC dummy round feeds effortlessly right out of box.

Will load some hunting loads and see how it shoots vs the 24 inch rossi for accuracy and velocities. Will try cowboy loads and check 25 yard groups, vs my two rossis. Need to get 50 and 100 yard points of impact for EOT long range

Really like the rifle will like it more with standard lever

I have been looking hard at the Cimarron 1892 saddle ring carbine on line but have not had the opportunity to hold one in person. Have any of you held one up close and personal and if so what is your opinion of them?

I ordered a standard lever for my carbine from winchester aka Browning fir miroku parts. $138 later with free shipping is on its way and should arrive tomorrow.  The same part from Numrich is $196. All you miroku owners call winchester or browning first.
