Greetings from Alliance, Nebraska
« on: September 26, 2023, 08:02:51 AM »
Hello all,

Castboolits said that I should join up here to learn more about the plethora of vintage firearms I have recently gotten myself into.  For most of my life I have been involved in WW1, WW2 and some Cold War era guns, as I always thought that lever guns and the like were too expensive to get into.  Since moving to Nebraska though, I have been blessed with the acquisition of an 1888 Trapdoor, 1847 Colt-Walker  reproduction, Cimarron 1885 High Wall, and a Cimarron 1876 NWMP carbine in 45-75.

Thank you guys for all the information y'all put on here.  It is really helpful to new guys like myself.

Cast Bullets is right, and you being in Nebraska you are in the HOT bed of activities.

NCOWS, the Grand Army of the Frontier (The Barracks) forums are your huckleberry.
add in "BROW" Buffalo Rifles of the Old West and check those forums out here on Cas City.

Your interest in all the era guns you mention mirror my own.  :)

2nd that.   The Grand Army of the Frontier's Grand Muster is in Sargent Nebraska.   So much fun it should not be allowed.   Thankfully it is.  Also, Valpraiso Nebraska hosts Ruckus at Raccon Forks every year.   Falls in the so much fun category as well!

Sadly, I live in BF Florida, so the commute is a bridge too far.
I can enjoy it vicariously through.

And the GAF has a fall muster in Valparaiso which will be on October 14 this year.  Just the place to shoot your Springfield or any of those other fine firearms.

And welcome to the community, from Madison, Nebraska!

Valparaiso is a great location to shoot!   If I was not limited on time away as I ready for Anniversary Vacation, I would be at the Muster.  Pilot, come join the fun

Welcome to the place! Check out Wild Bunch and Zoot Shooting too, as you probably have guns ready to run in those categories.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!  I had no idea when I was moving to Nebraska there would be so many shooting activities in the state.

Not to mention, some of the finest likeminded people I know.

Check out the Grand Muster at Sergent, a premier event for your Milsurps or RB  :)

Check out NCOWS and Barracks.   There is the NCOWS posse in Valparaiso and they are a great group!  Due south in Kansas (Garnett) is the NCOWS KVC posse.  I am involved with that one.   We will host the NCOWS National shoot in June 2024 at Parker Kansas.   And Sargent has the Grand Muster.   Seriously great times at all these locations.   Shooting and ranges are great, the people even better.

Sorry for Disappearing!  So far I still haven't loaded for my 76 NWMP, but have since added an additional 76 to the collection and a new 74 Sharps.

If you haven't done so yet, you might want to get with the Alliance Rifle Club. You'll find a bunch of like minded , knowledgeable and active shooters there.
