I picked up this Colt 1911 Carbonia Blue model from Capt. John Jarrett here on the forum.  I'd been itching for one of these for a while.  Never being a person who can leave a firearm "bone stock", I had Jim Alaimo make some ivory stocks for it with pre-war Colt medallions.  This is a real "officers" model now:

Those are great!!

Sorry .... for some reason I didn't see this post previously ..... looks like the e-mail notice of the posting on this thread would have come in when i was en route to the GAF Muster, so that is probably why .....

Anyway .... the magazine pouch is an original 1918-dated US WWI-era pouch.  These are quite commo0nly available at reasonable cost (say $15 or so) from various militaria dealers, because there must have been warehouses full of unissued ones after WWI, but by the time WWII rolled around, the US forces had switched to olive drab web gear ...

However, the holster is an entirely different story - it is a unique pattern which Canada acquired from the Mills Equipment Co. in the US for use with the 5000 Colt Government Model pistols Canada bought in 1914.  Survival rate of these holsters was fairly low, and when one turns up, it will go for "big bucks" - i.e. $600 to $1000, last I heard!

I was under the impression that the beaver tails, modified trigger designs would be out for WB shooting. Am I wrong on this as my Springfield Loaded (parkerized) would work for this too then.

My understanding is there is two classes, traditional and modern class, the beaver tails and modern triggers fall in the modern class along with adjustable sights.

Thanks Ten Wolves I found a post of the current rules. Interesting perhaps in the future after I get started with NCOWS.

I previously posted a picture of my 1914-production, Canadian-purchase pistol with original web holster and mag pouch, but here is a photo of my Wild Bunch rig .... which will actually get most of its use in the similar Grand Army of the Frontier "Era of Expansion" matches.

I made the belt in the Canadian Oliver Pattern1899 style, which was still in use by our troops at the beginning of the Great War in 1914, and patterned the holster on the WWI original which came with my Colt.  (The magazine pouch is one from What Price Glory, stained russet to match the rest of the rig.  I didn't think I could make one cheaper .... and certainly no better.)

Here is my current WB holster, made to fit my regular CAS belt.
A matching mag pouch is in progress, but use the military web pouches now.

It is starting to get silly with all these magazines. I've never seen a picture of a US soldier since 1916 have any more than 3 magazines for the pistol on his hip. The pistol pictured is another of the 5,000 Canadian Contract Colt Commercial Model, this one manufactured in 1913.
