Colt 1873 in cal.44 German
« on: February 23, 2011, 05:11:21 AM »
In Dec.1873 a mysterious shipment of 40, other sources say 59, Colts were shipped to Germany in a cal. 44 German.
Did anybody knows more about this shipment?
Thanks
 ;)

Henry, as near as I can recall, their was one returned to the David Brown collection, but I'm not sure. Will have to check his book this evening and Kopec's. I also seem to recall the guns went in two shipments, one of 40 revolvers and a follow up for the reaminder. I believe they were ordered thru Colt's London agent.

This is new info.  I have a M83 Reichsrevolver, without provision for a lanyard ring.  I make ammo quite easily from .44 Russian components.

It would be in the Colt day book/ledgers and for that you have to pay Colt.  ;)
