colt cumbustable cartridges

there is references to a paper cartridge machine that colt used to make there 36 and 44 cal. combustable cartridges.these machines were used during the civi war. has anyone out there ever seen a picture or drawing of one? any help old be really great. thanks, kurt250

These machines were used on a production basis - at a factory - and apparently not available for smaller-output production.

The 'easiest' way to make them is by hand - using a tapered dowel - and you really have to 'want' to make them.

This method of manufacture is illustrated in the Dixie Gun Works catalog, for one.

thanks guys,but that not what i need.i need a photo or a drawing of the machine. i know all about making the cartridges. i have been making them  for years. as to the" machine is not really made for small production"says who? that could be the person who has the info i need. thanks, kurt250

Colt quit making their own proprietary paper ctgs. and employed the Hazard Powder Company to make them.
