colt cumbustable cartridges

there is references to a paper cartridge machine that colt used to make there 36 and 44 cal. combustable cartridges.these machines were used during the civi war. has anyone out there ever seen ??? a picture or drawing of one? any help old be really great. thanks, kurt250

These machines were used on a production basis - at a factory - and apparently not available for smaller-output production.

The 'easiest' way to make them is by hand - using a tapered dowel - and you really have to 'want' to make them.

This method of manufacture is illustrated in the Dixie Gun Works catalog, for one.

Learn to nitrate your own paper, too, but be very careful.

thanks guys,but that not what i need.i need a photo or a drawing of the machine. i know all about making the cartridges. i have been making them  for years. as to the" machine is not really made for small production"says who? that could be the person who has the info i need. thanks, kurt250

Colt quit making their own proprietary paper ctgs. and employed the Hazard Powder Company to make them.
