Needing some 45-60 brass

(1/2) > >>

yahoody:
Anyone have some 45-60 brass..head stamp of no concern, that they'd like to sellout out right for top $  or trade other brass or primers for?

I have large rifle primers, new 45-70 brass and 38-55 brass along with most of the cowboy calibers for pistol, if you are in need.

My brass trimmer isn't up to cutting 45-70 down at the moment.

The easy way to shorten 45-70 to 45-60 length is to go to your friendly local hardware store and get a "tubing cutter", a small hand-held tool that plumbers use to cut copper tubing.  Makes removing most of the .2" excess length much less tedious.  Take an empty 45-70 case with you to make sure it will fit.

Awesome tip, I would have never thought of it.  :D

I made this posting about cutting 45/70's down to 45/60 back in 2021.  It works if you want to try it.  Makes the work go a lot faster.
I have a Chaparral and use Starline brass that requires only minor rim thickness cutting.  If your rifle is a Uberti then any 45/70 casing will work from my understanding.  After the chop saw only light trimming with standard case trimmer (Lyman Universal or such) is needed to get to, final 1.89 after sizing. Sorry, I only make enough 45/60's for my own use, none to sell or trade.  Maybe this will help you since you already have 45/70's on hand.

Try putting a wooden dowel in the shell before cutting and go slowly. It helps prevent to cutter from crimping the new neck. Good luck.
