Well, I'm home from another day of regaling the magic that is CAS, Had a lot of people interested in checking out a match, Hade Match schedules for 4 different clubs to hand out. If we get 20 % of the people that showed interest it was well worth it. The gun shop director asked if we would come back and do it again, I told them we would as long as it didn't conflict with a shoot.

First calf of the year today. No good picture, Momma was shy and took it back to the woods, while I was fumbling with the Wife's excessively complicated camera. Black white face on a herford heifer.

Yup, it's late in the season, but I waited for a loaner bull, just for the cost of wintering him.

Added another peach tree and another blueberry to the orchard.

I usually work the calves when I work the cows, all at once. May change up my system, though. I've been out of the cow business for a while, my old vet retired, not many large animal vets around, it seems. I bought this set of heifers in late 2017, so this is the first calf on the farm in years.

I finally stopped putting off mowing the lawn last Saturday, and just got it mad at me!  It grew so fast it needs mowing again!  Supposed to rain off and on for the next several days.  With the good feeding of Milorganite I gave it, it might decide it needs daily mowing before too long.

I was born and raised in Racine WI.  Worked in Milwaukee and got to go over the river that fed the plant twice a day, five days a week.  Between the tanning factory, and the Miller brewery, the aroma was so prevalent nobody ever new about the fertilizer being created just on the other side of the bridge. ::)

They may bypass the middle man at the end, but I don't think Portland or San Fran people consume enough beer to add   the nutrients that the brewery's added to the mix that hit the mouth of the Milwaukee river. ;D

I was off on some jaunt once and hit upon that worlds longest yard sale.
Sensory overload.... parked some, walked a bunch, missed a whole bunch I'm sure...
I recall got some cool antiques , but always wondered what I over-looked or just missed  :o

Congrats on VAC's Slim...I had pair of SS 7.5 as my 1st. SASS guns back in 92, burned out on SASS and foolishly sold them  ::)

I'm off to the Toy store, to see if any thing cool has come in  :P then lunch with my pard .

I've been in hiding from the green mass I created (called a Lawn).  Decided to turn the sprinkles off, so it will dry off by Sunday or Monday, so I can give it another hair cut before the rains come in later next week.  Normally everything around here dries off in a few hours, but the cooler temps have been keeping the greenery damp. (Streets are still dry in a heartbeat).

Summary of the week: New radiator hose and rear brake pads on the Mail Blazer, new back tires on the Mighty Dakota, new blades on the riding mower, and a battery for the Farmall so I don't have to hand crank it all the time. So the state tax return check basically came and went already.

Afternoon all.

It's still raining in California. That's really all there is to say. Kind of ruined our vacation, but what can you do.

I'm interviewing for a job delivering Peterbilt parts when I get back to Billings. Using a plain old Ford truck to do it, but there's potential for an upgrade to CDL status in a few months.

Got the green mass cut yesterday.  Decided I don't need a grass catcher on the mower, but really needed a baler :o!

So far the incoming rain has held off, so I'm not sure if I should turn on the artificial wet stuff yet.  The temps are still pretty low, and the overcast is hangin' around, so I'll wait and see!

Morning all.

Rain is holding off here for now. Me and my girlfriend were going to try and rent an airplane down in the city for an hour today, but it's looking like that probably won't happen. Wind isn't wanting to cooperate, so I might take the opportunity to hit the range and burn some ammo.

It looks like I got that job with Peterbilt. I got called for an interview about 16 hours after applying (the ad said 3-4 days to process), and the lady said there were "few applicants this time." Hopefully it works out well.

Spent the day at a Gun Show representing SASS, Had a lot of interest, some of them didn't even know that CAS was around the area. Going back tomorrow for more of the same.

That sounds great, Major.  I've been thinking of doing the same thing at the area gun shows, as well as the regional rodeo's when they come around.  Any suggestions for a first timer tryin' to promote our game?

Thanks,

Marshal Hangtree

Welcome to the fire, Marshall Hangtree! Our club used to rent a table at gun shows to promote SASS. Had a display of CAS guns( with a nice "not for sale" sign), plus a little extra space for club members for sale items. A stack of old Cowboy Chronicles for free, some club flyers, and if electricity was available, we had a TV showing CAS shooting. Haven't done it as much lately, club's kind of on a decline. Many members "aging out" or having health issues.

Yes, Call SASS and ask them to send you some materials for your table, They sent me about 80 Cowboy Chronicles and SASS brochures I borrowed a SASS flag from one of the clubs I shoot at and if you have power, bring a lap top and play CAS videos from You Tube,That really draws them in. We were also dressed in out best CAS clothes and would walk around the gun show to make sure people saw us.
