GAF Chat
« on: October 13, 2008, 08:23:19 PM »
Hello all, I hope this finds everyone doing well. Several months ago I had started up a GAF Chat on this site, however due to mixed results and getting busy it sort of fell by the way side I'm sad to admit. However I'd like to get this idea going again as I believe it has some potential to assist us in helping the GAF grow as the major complaint I hear from some folks is a lack of communications between everyone.

So what I was wondering is instead of just myself trying to run a weekly chat if others would care to step forward and volunteer to help me in hosting each Wed. night a GAF Chat? Now due to the large area that the GAF covers and the different time zones it would be advisable to have folks try and organize there own as well throughout Wed. The GAF Chat room on the site is a permanent fixture and is always there now, so all this would require is for someone to be present in the room. I know for those in the Department of the Atlantic and the GAF as a whole I will be glad to set it up and operate it every Wed. from 8 pm until the discussion ends.

What are others thoughts on these GAF Chats?

Personally, I like the idea, but I have forgotten to check on it all the time, save once.

The Time Zone differences are the main hang-up as I see it.

Monsieur le Colonel, I'll volunteer to open the chat room and pass around the brandy, cigars and nonpareils to the guests. What time (EST) shall I start?

Perhaps some finger sandwiches too?  ;)

Frenchie,

Cigars and brandy sound pretty good. How about Limburger sandwiches? :P

Bien sûr, Colonel. I'll set up the fixings for Limburger sandwiches over there, at the far end of the sideboard. Don't forget the bowl of mints that I'll place next to it.  :D

Hum, hum, hum... I can't think of any time that's better than any other, so how about 6:00 pm Wednesdays? We can try that and tweak things as needed.

Sorry most folks turned in from the room before 11:30 pm, and I hung around until 12:30 before having to call it a night myself.  :-[

Okay tmrw is the day to try the GAF Chat again, I shall try to be in the room at 7 pm (eastern time) however I'm somewhat absent minded so I may cuss loudly and rush to my computer at 7:30/8:00 pm.  ;D

I will try and stay in the room as long as is possible, however I have to be somewhere Thursday at 8:30 am so I may have to duck out of the room by around Midnight (Eastern Time).

I'm in the Chat Room now. If no one shows up soon I'm going to start singing, and we all don't want that, do we? :o

Well it's 1 minute to midnight and I hate to do it but am leaving the room, if folks still wish to chat the room is always open and feel free to take advantage of that fact by trying to get conversations started.

Goodnight.
