Sir Charles deMouton-Black asked for opinions on his design ideas for his maker's stamp. That got me to thinking that there must be others who would like some ideas. I know I sure spent some time looking at pictures in Packing Iron when I was thinkng about mine. So, I'm starting this thread so we can share photos of our stamps to give others ideas for theirs. Let's all post pics and make the designing process easier for others. Toss in any information that may have helped you decide what you wanted to do for yours, if you like. If we get good participation, I'll sticky this thread for future pards to find easily.
[12/28/07 - I stickyed this so it won't get lost too far down. If there isn't much response, I'll just unsticky it. If there is, I can put a link to it in the FAQ thread before unstuckying it.]
I wanted a design for maker's stamp that would be typical back to about 1870 but still look stylish for all the way up to 1899. I chose a small rounded rectangle so I could put it on the strap on a holster as well as in the larger areas of a holster or other item. I stayed away from graphics since that didn't start showing up until the late 1880's as best I could tell. I didn't put a location since I may be changing mine, besides, who's heard of Aromas?
The size is 1 3/8"L x 3/8"H Here it is, along with a photo to visually show the size:
