Pale Rider Rig With Cylinder Pouches

I'm working on a Pale Rider type gun belt with bullet and cylinder loops (no holster) for a friend.  He wants it black.

I shot a whole two day yearly match with one pistol and two cylinders. It was a total snort changing cylinders on the clock. Here's the rig I whipped up for the occasion. No, I didn't wear the cylinder behind the holster but it made a better photo that way.

Be interested to see how you did the cylinder pouch...did you stitch a thin piece on bottom to keep cylinder from falling through?  That’s what I am planning.

I stitched a bottom in it like a stitched-in toe plug using the same weight leather as the rest of the pouch. Although I didn't do this, it might help to punch the center of the bottom out big enough to push the cylinder up from the bottom with your finger, too.

I hadn’t thought of a toe plug...I was going to glue and sew a narrow strip around the bottom...which would keep the center open.

That's a good idea. I may do that next time. The stitching would certainly be easier and the thickness of the leather should be enough to hold the cylinder in unless your pouches are too loose.

Got the Pale Rider type rig finished and delivered.  Customer real happy with it.  Matched his holster.
Cylinder holders have straps to keep conversion tops from falling off.  went with thin (3/16") strips around bottom...glued and sewn around perimeter... to keep cylinders in.  That way they can be pushed out from bottom.

Atz really COOL!!  He likes it, He likes it!!  I was toying with an Idea (oh the Pain) to do something similar with a pair of short barrel Schofields, with the cylinders cut for Moon Clips.  Plan went inna toilette though when I couldn't well shoot Schofields.

The best laid plans of Mice and Men and all that . . . . . . . . . . .

Thanks guys.  Took awhile to design the cylinder pouch.  But it came out like I was hoping.
Will - If he decides to ever use it.  A friend of his gave him a box of cartridges for the gun but they have been in his car for the last year and a half. Never fired! 😆

@ PAMuzzleshooter:  If the box of ammo your friend has kept in his car for the last year-and-a-half contains blackpowder, then no harm done.  But if it contains smokeless powder he should be made aware of the danger that the jolting and vibration of a car can grind the powder kernels down into "smokeless dust" and potentially increase the pressure to a dangerous level....
I know of careless deerhunters who have gotten an unpleasant surprise when they fired cartridges that had been kept rattling around inside the truck since last years hunt.

Hey Cap %u2018n ... it%u2019s black powder...no problems...this guy belongs to my gun club and is an avid shooter,  along with the others...just not  much on civil war era revolvers.

Make your cylinder holders like PAM did with the 3/16" strip stitched in around the bottom. It's a good design. I made one basically the same only with a bottom stitched in like a toe plug but you can't stick your finger up and push them out from the bottom.
