.54 IAB Sharps
« on: February 24, 2014, 03:35:28 PM »
If this has been asked and answered elsewhere, I apologize.  I'm a newby here, and didn't find and answer in my search.  I am new to CAS.  I have an IAB .54 Sharps breech loader designed for paper cartridges, I'd like to maximize for side matches.  I've shot a .54 muzzle loader bullet for fun, but it is not very accurate.  I've been searching for a bullet mold, but notice quite a few variations from about .5415 up to .5455.  Without me having to have the barrel plugged, anyone know the best diameter bullet for this gun?  Any recommendations for manufacturer?  Thanks in advance.

Mike

Having no idea of the right diameter, if it were me, I'd try this one:

Stu,
Thanks for the reply.  The Minie ball is not appropriate for breech loaders.  The proper bullet designs are called are quite a bit longer without a hollow base.  Most are over 400 grs.
