Miss Annie,

I see Curly is on a Jefferson Airplane kick, and I try not to look out windows either, I have sector diagrams next to them as to the fire zones.      ??? ??? ???

Yes am on a JA kick, but only the SP album...
Both you were right on top (no pun intended..)

It is a really pretty song...very mellow, which is the place i am trying to get to right now....It seems that everyone here is NUTS, but then what do I expect from the "aslyum"...but at least the staff should have some sanity. However, the moon is getting ful, it is the holiday and so on...so

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

How about this one?

Now when you open your mouth, what comes out
What’s the first word, what’s the first line’
When you open your mouth and love comes out
Then you know, you just sang the clear line
I’ve heard people say it a thousand times
In a thousand different ways
I’ve heard people play it a thousand times
And they know, they know that’s the only way
....

Evening, Curley!

It's from Red Octopus, one of the first albums given to me as a gift.

We've had a good day and just finished dinner. Are you working tonight? Did you get to celebrate Christmas with the family?

A long time ago in a Psych class I took, we had to write down the stressors in our lives. Each stressor had a number associated with it. If your total for the year was over 60 (I think, it was a long time ago), it was a warning sign for troubles ahead. Christmas alone was worth 10 points. I can understand how the inmates would be agitated.

The song currently in my head:

If we still have time, we might still get by
Every time I think about it, I wanna cry
With bombs and the devil, and the kids keep comin'
No way to breathe easy, no time to be young

But I tell myself that I was doin' all right
There's nothin' left to do at night
But to go crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you, oh

My love is the evenin' breeze touchin' your skin
The gentle, sweet singin' of leaves in the wind
The whisper that calls after you in the night
And kisses your ear in the early moonlight
And you don't need to wonder, you're doing fine
My love, the pleasure's mine

Let me go crazy on ya
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you, ohhh

Wild man's world is cryin' in pain
What you gonna do when everybody's insane
So afraid of one who's so afraid of you
What you gonna do...ohhh...

(Ah-ah-ah-ah)

Ooooo...Crazy on ya
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you

I was a willow last night in my dream
I bent down over a clear running stream
Sang you the song that I heard up above
And you kept me alive with your sweet flowing love

Crazy
Yeah, crazy on ya
Let me go crazy, crazy on you, oh
Crazy on ya
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you, yeah

(Ah-ah-ah-ah)

Crazy on ya
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you, ohhh...

Curly,

You are playing George Carlin again, I think I will listen to some Gregorian Chants as a great fit of melencholy has overtaken me.  Talked to the son-in-law who called to wish his old father-in-law a merry Christmas.  This is not an unusual event with the exception that he is in Iraq, that he took the time shows his character as I know what he is working on and has a platoon to keep in line.  It was hard to be light and jokeing when I know what he is doing, he has chosen a harder route then most (I know that too well) and is in the infantry.  My Christmas wish would be for me to change places with him so that he could be with his family, I would do that in a heart beat.  I know the feeling at the holidays when you are on your post in some lousey out of the way place with food that is not what you want nor the company.  But I am reminded of an old John Wayne movie, (I beleive it was She Wore a Yellow Ribbon) where he is brought up short being reminded that the youngsters would have to learn to do it the same way he had, by themselves and costly in more then just money.  I guess it is like the old commercial, when you care you send the very best, well in my opinion that is what we are doing sending the best and the brightest to keep the Country safe while the rest of the people think of themselves on todays festives.  Told you I was in a black mood.  The caliber of those troops is unbelievable, I have been training them in basic, AIT, and the NCOES courses longer then I should admit they are head and sholders above when I first started back when there were rocks.  Oh well I think old soldiers should not think just be happy they are no longer on the point of the spear.  Maybe I will just listen to Billy Joel "We Didn't Start The Fire".   Take care and thank God for the ones we have keeping us safe at night.

Top,
Sorry I didnn't see this post sooner...been real tired..guess the grandkid visit, and the craziness t work, and I am kinda worried about my physical condition. I hurt a lot and get real tired...but, I am still here.

I know you would trade places in a heartbeat, but it is time for the young ones to take our places. You served and its not yer fault you didn't go to that "vacation place" and I know it still weighs heavy that you didn't....I could have ended up there also, saved by the skin of my arse (quite litterally). But, I for one am greatful we (you) didn't go there, besides, I aint done with you being my friend/unkle. Some days your calls actually help me thru the day....and I am grateful for that.....

See others get the blues too,
Like David Bromberg sang: "you have to suffer to sing the blues...."
and to lighten the party up a bit:

Miz Lee, New Years is coming up.....You best pucker up...ain't that what people do at stroke of midnite?

nite all

Curley, I can't speak of Miz Annie or anyone else, but hereabouts on the stroke of midnight, we hit the deck.  :(

I've never figgered out whether it's the Brothas or the rednecks who live around here, but somebody has got the notion that ammunition needs to be used up at the start of the New Year, else it'll go bad. For about ten minutes, it will sound like some kinda re-enactment is going on. I used to try to keep track of the different weapons I was hearing, but I lose count at around fifteen.

Makes me sad, cuz thirty New Years' ago when we first moved here, what you heard at midnight was a buncha people banging on pots and pans.

Here is tonites presentation

Well, I've heard 'em say theres one for everybody
And I just knew some how that you'd be the one for me
'cause making love with you 's not just a hobby
No it's the flame that burnt the forest down in me

And Darling was it day or was it nighttime
Were them whipporwills a-moaning through the trees
I don't remember just what you said but, ooh, right from the start its
Hotter than Mojave in my heart

And I'll not prepare my heart for the change of season
And I'll whip old winter wind there if she blows
Well God bless the day that you came along
And You tipped my applecart and you made me
Hotter than Mojave in my heart...

"pling-twang-plingpling-twangggggg" (mandolin solo here!!)

A good ol' country style tune for you....
from one of the obscure singers...

"Bullseye my pony, Bullseye my pride
Bullseye mi amigo, Bullseye I will ride
Across the wide prairie, beneath the blue sky
We'll ride on forever just me and Bullseye
It was out in west Texas at the Triple 'R' sale
When I first laid eyes on that
Bullseye broomtail
He bounced and he bucked and he ran like the wind
And when I rode out I was a-leading my friend

Hey, Bullseye my pony, Bullseye my pride
Bullseye mi amigo, Bullseye I will ride
Across the wide prairie, beneath the blue sky
We'll ride on forever just me and Bullseye

One midnight in August it came up a storm
The cattle stampeded, the lightning did swarm
A cowboy who fell was a cowboy who'd die
Well lucky for me I was a-riding Bullseye

Hey, Bullseye my pony, Bullseye my pride
Bullseye mi amigo, Bullseye I will ride
Across the wide prairie, beneath the blue sky
We'll ride on forever just me and Bullseye

Now if ever I find me a cowgirl so true
Who'll keep a loose rein on this old buckaroo
Well if she's got a mare and a twinkling eye
Boys I might settle there and raise little Bullseyes

Hwy, Bullseye my pony, Bullseye my pride
Bullseye mi amigo, Bullseye I will ride
Across the wide prairie, beneath the blue sky
We'll ride on forever just me and Bullseye

We'll ride on forever just me and Bullseye"

"There's a little guy I know, who spends all day just huntin' gold
And he loves to dance the polka cowboy style
Snowy beard and turned up hat, taps his toe this way and that
Keeping time to happy music all the while
He was born in Pennsylvania but came West when just a lad
To stake a claim and mine that yella gold
With a shovel and a pick and a happy polka kick
He's the best at finding nuggets so I'm told

He's Pete, the Old Prospector, a happy little elf
And when he hears a squeezebox play he just can't help himself
With a pickax for a partner he dances o'er the plains
He pans for gold and polkas up and down the rolling range

With his bag of mining tools and the big ole long-eared mule
He's off at dawn upon his golden quest
If you see him say "Hello" Pete's a fellow you should know
He's a polka dancin' champion of the West

He's Pete the Old Prospector, a happy little elf
And when he hears a squeezebox play he just can't help himself
With his pickax for a partner he dances o'er the plains
He pans for gold and polkas up and down the rolling range

Why, Miz Lee, it is not often I get to stump you...

Mojave was by Iris Dement, a country/folk singer that has a voice that at first listen seems to be painful, but grows on you. (sorta like first time you listen to Joan Baez..or Bob Dylan for that matter..

that was fun...

Here's another one that plays from time to time inside my head. I remember first hearing it in 1975:

I'm not in love, so don't forget it.
It's just a silly phase I'm going through.
And just because I call you up,
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made.
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...
I like to see you, but then again,
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me.
So if I call you, don't make a fuss -
Don't tell your friends about the two of us.
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...

I keep your picture upon the wall.
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there.
So don't you ask me to give it back.
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me.
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...

Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me.
Ooh, you'll wait a long time.
I'm not in love, I'm not in love...
