Morning all. It’s been a while.

We’ve been busy in the Gold Fields of Ca. Brief synopsis:

Mrs. TK and I moved down to the city. Nothing fancy, just a 2 bedroom townhouse with a garage. But it’s 4 walls and a roof.

Had a 3 week bout with the stomach flu. That was fun. I lost 15lbs that I couldn’t afford to, but it did make me feel less bad about all the Christmas food I ate ::)

I’ve been really busy at work. Somehow I got sucked into a lot of “collateral duties,” which have mostly been leading contract burn crews on prescribed fires. Just spent 9 days burning around the ghost town of Denny, CA. Neat place, the New River is pleasant. The constant rain, not so much.

Mrs. TK just accepted a job with the Forest Service. GS5 admin. She’s pretty happy about that.

And finally, Mrs. TKs horse stepped on a 3/8” rusty bolt last week, so now we’re going out and changing his bandage and force-feeding his antibiotics twice a day. Good time had by all.

Y’all keep dry out there.

Home remedies...y'all may know this one. but it was enlightenment to me.
My friend Dakota Ike (on this BB) mentioned Castor Oil for sore joints.

Back in December my left knee, began to hurt, Tendonitis Pain, inflamed and some swelling.
Seems to happen every copula years, since I reach the approximate same age as OLD people  ::)

So, I tried medical grade Caster Oil USP, this is the stuff one takes for digestion issues. constipation.
You apply it topically and rub in for about 3-4 minutes wrap it with a flannel cloth (Terry or old Tee shirt will do) and wrap with saran wrap.

Relief is almost immediate and as a side benefit, the slight arthritis in my ring finger was also soothed.

Many of you may say, well Duh! I've known this for years.
But in my neck of the woods, the rocks one might dwell under can be rather dense.

BiOFreeze and the like have little or no effect, while the Caster Oil works .

Morning all. Managed to trip coming out of a Casey's yesterday and in addition to launching a fresh coffee all over a fellow's work van, twisted my knee and back pretty good. Nothing major, took some good pain pills when I got home and slept for 14 hours. Pretty sore today, but don't see any real damage. Don't bounce like I did when I was 20!

Sorry to hear your fall. Please take it easy and get better soon. I over did my pool workouts and I'm nursing a sore back. Had a third tooth pulled today. The average amount of teeth left in the age 80-84 range is 11.3. At 83, I shouldn't complain.

I spoke with an old Film partner today, he's recovering from his second knee replacement, and also on a bionic hip.
Except for a few teeth I have my original OEM parts for 7 1/2 15 lustrum I'm not complaining either.

I'm more rat rod that restro mod though.

Rub it in about 3 minutes or so, then I add a bit to the cloth wrap and the Seran wrap, wear it all day.
At the end of the day the area will absorb the extra oil...

After a rather prolonged period of do something (No teeth left in mouth), wait to heal, repeat, several times.  It took me from march of 2021 until last Tuesday to get my final teeth.  (almost 3 years)  Going out tonight for a nice steak to test them out.  So far, they seem to be working just fine.  Won’t even go into the fiasco of mixing Hearing Aids and MRI s ::) ::) ::).

About a year ago my dentist spent 20 minutes with me going over how to floss. He put me on to a miniature brush system for flossing along with a floss holder. It really does the job and it's easy to use. I was impressed by time he took with me. This is available on Amazon.

On another note, 2-1/2 years ago, my wife had a very serious operation. During the initial visit with the Surgeon, he gave us his cell phone number and said, "call me if you have any questions". First time that ever happened.

When we get a new prescription, our Pharmacy calls a few days later and asks if any questions. First time that ever happened.

We are in our sixth year in Florida and very pleased with the Health Care we receive.

Afternoon all.

I’m off work today, have a good case of the Krud. Still got talked into going out to buy equestrian supplies. Had to pick up some bandaging, and 200lbs of pelletized wood shavings. I have a sneaking suspicion I could have bought a truckload of wood shavings for a better price, but Mrs. TK was very clear on it.  ::)

Morning all.

45 and clear, not a cloud in the sky. Supposed to get up to 65.

On today’s agenda, we’re taking the horse to his first event about 40 minutes away. We’ll see how that pans out. Mrs. TK is excited about it: I’m just the chauffeur. In preparation, I spent most of my evening last night doing some preventative maintenance on the truck. Oil change, fluid’s topped off, steering components greased, and had to swap the blower motor in the AC system. That was technically a repair, not preventative, but that’s neither here nor there.

Y’all keep dry out there.

We were swamped today at the LGS and short handed to boot, but we made it. I did succumb to temptation and brought a Ruger LCP2 home for a new pocket gun. Last night was our church's Valentine Banquet and was a really fun night. Counting our Engagement, this makes 40 years of Valentine's together.

A little excitement at verk on Monday afternoon. I found a fire in a ceiling exhaust fan. Used a fire exstinguisher on it but was not sure it was out. So, a coworker called the fire dept. They found it had followed the exhaust ducting into the attic. They used about 100 gal to put it out. More water damage than fire damage. ServPro is doing cleanup today and tomorrow. The fire tripped 3 circuit breakers. Electrician is coming on Monday.

Had our 47th Anniversary December last.
Marriage is two people, rough as a cob, gradually grinding and smoothing out in order to fit perfectly.

A sign of aging, just installed a grab bar on the door jamb leading from the garage up the single steep step into the breezeway. Watched her struggle too many times to keep the screen door open and leverage up that one step with a bum hip. If she's carrying something it's an effort.

So, got a peck and a hot cup of coffee as a reward. Life is good.

There are three signals of aging I've experienced....
1) People always open doors for you
2) Everyone calls you "Sir"
3) Before going out, you check your shirt for food and coffee stains

RCJ, many years ago I installed some bars like that for my folks while they were gone for a couple of days. Boy was my Mom honked off! But about a month later she called and said it was a good thing for them! Well done.
Highlight of today was some fellas doing some gravel work on the driveway. Just usual maintenance but looks so much better. A couple good rains to wash it off will have that part looking nice. They will be putting some flagstone in next week to help drainage.

I have a day off. ;D

I took her over to the nieces so she can spoil Amelia who is almost 2 and hasn't seen here since sometime in the fall.  I told them if she causes trouble to call me or 911.  Would almost be funny because it would be the same station and they have to ask her why she wasn't home.  ::)

Day 35 at home, Mri Tuesday was good.  No cancer appointment till April.
Great news.

Through the years, I've made some pistol grips for myself out of Corian and also Walnut. I used a Rotary-Oscillating Sander to shape the grips. You can easily change the cylinder diameter to suit the area of the grip being shaped. It was similar to the one shown. I bought it from my local Menards store.

Welp!  here is the skinny at my casa !

Needing new set of tires for my ride, I been socking away eBay earned nickels & dollars.
They aren't cheap! being 18" wheels, some north of 4 figures   :o
I was planning on March no major rush, just about 2MM above the wear bars.
So, It could go a bit longer, and now I will need to.  :-[

"She" broke a tooth the other day, it was a root canaled and capped molar done some years ago.
It's broken off at the gumline, cost to surgery remove it  :o  3 grand !
Somewhat Fortunately, our Medicare advantage does pay $1000 and I oppted' for the Family plan
back when I had some work done during the later days of the covid lockdown.

So out the door, "SHE" gets it pulled and we pay $800 bucks  ::)

Oh well, I was not planning any trips anyway in my SUV , and we did put NEW $1000 tires on her SUV back in November.  :-X

Aren't it grand!  :(

I had pocket carried the J Frame in a High Noon pocket holster from when I got my CCW permit about 09 .
Then a couple of differed auto loaders several years.
Having returned to Model 36, in a Desantis Nemesis and wanting extra rounds.

I didn't really want the strip loose in my pocket, because I have my wallet in the left and the J frame in the right pocket, I figure the strip with rounds would seek the lowest level.  :-\

I'm not sure when S&W went to the rounded cylinder release.
I used to know but the trivia is stored in the dusty confined space in my head somewhere.
My gun dates to 1982, I bought it as a consignment piece about 14 years ago, carried it several years.

Edit...had to look it up  :)

The flat latch was only used on the chief special and its J- frame variants from 1950 until late 1966.
In 1966 the thumb piece that unlocked the cylinder was replaced by the new concave checkered thumb latch that unlocks the swing out cylinder of the revolvers.

Mine was made in early 60's. I don't remember which year. It takes a bit to get used to the flat latch.

'Tis 22 and overcast. "Colder. Cloudy. A chance of snow showers in the morning  then snow showers likely in the afternoon. Snow accumulation around 1 inch. Highs in the upper 30s. Temperatures falling into the upper 20s in the afternoon. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 60 percent."

"Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph."

I saw mine offered at a South Orlando LGS, I just happened to wander in.
My gun was a consignment, it appeared unfired in S&W Blue & silver box.
I haggled "down for cash" price and with my CCW permit walked out with it.

That was in January 2010, carried it several years, bought and tried and sold a couple of auto loaders.
And now, full cycle I carry the Mod. 36 again. Revolver is just near fool proof IMHO.

I was at my normal haunt, friendly LGS, I note his stock of CCw  guns was sort of low.
Consigned guns were depleted, He said business had been brisk.
There were 3 guns waiting on background checks, he'd opened at 10am and it only 11:15am  :)

One of the guns waiting was an older Dan Wesson model 14 consignment that was a little rough.
Even so, it had not been out more than a day, came in Friday and was snapped up Sat morning.
The gun has some red rust blooms just above the grips, and some on the cylinder.
I didn't ask the purchased price and the hang tag was over with paperwork, so I may never know.
But, I put my card down, and Ted will tell the owner I can " convert and card the rust "
It won't be "as new" but it will conserve the finish and blend in rather nicely.
We'll set if I get the job.  :-\

Another consigned gun was remarkable in its asking price.
A Ruger LCR 38cal. it has a LaserMax Laser, the consigner is "INFLATED" wanting $700  :o
So, the hangtag says $789 that is about $200 + over MSRP retail.
Who knows, it just might get it   :-\

On another note: My wife was pet sitting for a friend last night, so I was a Batchlor.
I decided to go out to dinner and try out my spare cartridge pouch. (above)
So, I get there and see they've gone anti- 2nd, a sign in the window "gun free zone".
This is a new wrinkle, I ate there last week, and no such sign existed  ???

I ate elsewhere last evening, and will continue to do so, sadly I liked that place  :(

Wow, a great day at Church today. Had a lady come as a visitor I had invited. She sat with my Missus and I, really enjoyed the Service. Our Pastor had a really good message today and a Young guy [early 20s] was visiting with a friend of his. I got to talk to him after the service and then got to lead him to the Lord. Man, what a great way to start this week!

Deacon, that is as good as it gets!

We had a blessed church service today as well, and as always, the Lord provided.  My wife and I were leading singing/playing today, and we were apparently able to be a blessing even though the morning was crazy enough I didn't even realize until I was at church that I'd forgotten to put on a belt!  And our new pastor was there for his first Sunday "on duty" and preached a good sermon.  I was on the pastoral search committee (our previous pastor had left last fall), so having him there and hearing him preach was especially rewarding.

Your 642 Lightweight Alloy Frame @ 14.6 oz is about 5 oz lighter than my nickel 36 @ 19.6 oz.
That's big in the CCw world.
But the 36 is only an oz heaver that my Sig 365 @ 18.5 oz so I'm use to the feel.

Greetings all, from the Eastern seaboard. :o

Currently in Kentucky, helping them fight fires. We’re under a tornado watch as I type, with an inch of rain. Not many fires going on. Here for 3 more days, then back home.

More updates as events warrant.

I just realized that it's been 19 years since Miz Annie Lee passed, I miss her sense of humor and friendship. I wonder how her son is doing.

Are you sure, I think it was 2006.  About a month before my Dad.  Was going to meet Slim somewhere and go with him but Dad was too bad to risk it.
