What's your real question?

Wondering if anybody has a civil war cap pouch that  was modified and issued during the indian war. Need to know the size of the US stamp on the flap. (Outside to outside of the border)
Thanks

Holsterguy,

The issued cap pouch/box was not Stamped with the US in an oval. You may find them with a makers cartouche/stamp on the outer flap during the ACW.
The cap boxes used during the Indian Wars were surplus from the ACW with the sheep skin removed for carrying extra revolver ammo.
I hope this helps.

Blair - as well as removing the sheepskin, they also cutaway most of the inner flap, and usually put the US in an oval on the outer flap. Same thing with the 1863 holster. They usually had the US applied.
