Easy and quick brass lube
« on: January 09, 2006, 10:14:32 AM »
Howdy,

I run a progressive press with carbide dies for all my main match Black Powder reloading and I know that supposedly no lube is needed on the brass.  But, I've found that a very small amount of lube makes my progressive run much easier.  What I do is this.  I put a lite spray of Ballistol into an empty canvas shot bag and dump in the clean, ready to load, brass.  I shake it up a bit and dump it into the shell hopper.  That's it, all the lube that is needed.  The brass isn't wet enough to need to be cleaned after loading, yet the press runs like the well oiled machine it is.

Howdy, I'm new here but since I saw this post just thought I'd pass this along. I have for years used a towel sewed up like a bag saturated with case lube to lube my cases. Just dump your brass inside and roll them around a bit and you get just enough to make them work in the dies. I realize this may be old news but like I said I'm new here. Dan

Pards. thanks for the idea.  I think I may try that with an empty chilled buckshot bag I have laying around.

You could try it Seth, but I'd keep a stuck case remover handy. ;D  Instead get a can of the areasol lupe.  I use it all all cases I have to lube, give it a shot, shake and give it another and then just wait about 15 minutes.  A shot in the die don't hurt either the first time.
