Title: Miroku Tang Sight Threads
Post by: Niederlander on July 23, 2023, 07:27:42 AM
Gentlemen,  Does anyone know if the tang sight screw hole threads are the same as originals?  Trying to get a friend set up to shoot, but I don't have access to the rifle right now to check.

I've got a Marbles' tang sight for a '73, but needed to know if the screws fit the new Winchesters.  I also saw something about the grip angle being a bit different.  Anyone know if that is true?

I've got a Lyman #2 tang sight on my Miroku 73 that screwed straight on, all I needed was a screw driver. The screws that came with it were correct for the rifle

Did you buy one for the original '73 or the new Winchester (Miroku) '73?

Well...my $0.02 worth.

I have both a new Miroku '73 and a couple of originals.  The standard screw set for a Marbles tang sight fits both my new and original rifle.  I just removed the 140 year old plugs from the tang on the original and screwed on the Marbles.  I love that kind of consistency!

The sights for the originals and the ones for the Miroku are different part numbers.  Is the sight angle correct for both?  From what I've read, the difference is about four degrees, so I'd think they would work with either one, but I don't have the one for the Miroku to try.

I do know we were comparing original 73 to the Miroku a few years back as to whether they should be approved for NCOWS and the Miroku was a slight bit different angle when laying them on top of one another. In fact other than the same appearance from across the room they are very different from the originals.
