This one, I take it?  Pretty gun.  I'm not going to weigh in on your question yet; I'll let somebody more experienced share their thoughts (though I do have some thoughts on it).

 :) Hi Bob ;)

The description included with the gun indicates the manufacturer is Remington.  Also described as "refinished."  Without being able to take it apart and search numbers and proof marks, I'd probably call it an original.  I would not however, bid on it without a real close look (take it apart).

Cool gun, it has the proper thin backing plate and ejector to be an original.  But in the description: "...allowing this revolver to shoot Modern .44 caliber center fire ammunition" - well not really, because it would need the old style heeled bullet 44 Colt ammo.

And by the way, you posted this in the STORM forum, it should be in SCORRS.

FWIW the original Remington Conversions were .46 Remington RF.

Yep the original 1868 five shot 46 rimfires were. There were later 6 shot versions in 44 rimfire and centerfire and 45 centerfire as well. The bruce mcdowell book is free online now with a little searching.

I have the book, found it in a LGS at the original price. ;D

I have a PDF of McDowels book and the Ware book on Remington Army and Navy.  It has a huge section on the Remington conversions.  Send me a PM with your email and I will send it to you.
