Sources for 45-60 Ammo?
« on: March 02, 2021, 05:01:35 PM »
Hi y'all - I recently picked up a Uberti/Cimarron 1886 Centennial in 45-60.  I plan to load for this rifle using my 45-70 dies and a 45-60 crimp die I got with the gun.  Problem is right now powder and bullets are impossible to find.  When adding a new caliber I usually buy a couple of boxes of factory loads so I can test fire the gun right away and also have some brass to reload but I haven't been able to locate any factory loads.  Seems like there were a couple of sources before the current craziness. Does anyone have a line on a source?   Or maybe even a prolific reloader?

Thanks - Phil

The only source of loaded 45-60 ammo I'm aware of is from Buffalo Arms Co., and right now they are mostly out of stock for ammo, bullets, brass, and a lot of other stuff. Still an' all, good luck in your search.

Hey there! I see this thread is a bit old, but I still wanted to chime in with my cents as a newbie. I'm not sure about sources for 45-60 ammo, but have you tried looking online?

I gotta ask, are you seriously asking if we would actually try shooting a 6.5 round in a .45 caliber? Or am I missing something?

Reminds me of Jimmy Stewart's western "Fire Creek".  The mentally challenged kid accidently shot one of the bad guys, and so another bad guy called him a Limpbrain.  I use that term all the time since then.  :D ;D

BTW, I didn't notice this post when it came out in 2021 or I'd have questioned the OP's having a "1886" Centennial in 45-60.

I've been called alot worse than limpbrain. Question still stands, Is he asking if we would try a 6.5 in a 45? Cuz that's what it looks like to me.

When a 1-post wonder chimes in on the subject of any post on social media with a technically illogical comment/question & a hyperlink😳, I assume they're just another dirtbag scammer 😉 looking to acquire your electronic $$/accounts... who should have their account, comment and/or thread deleted.

Just to be clear I'm referring to:

DennisCarpenter. 💩

Not folks with a low post "count" asking legitimate questions/comments, or our usual suspects...

And...YES, I am a MEANIE 😆

I can sympathize with your struggles to find ammo and reload supplies these days - it's been a wild ride out there! I don't have any specific leads on factory loads for the 45-60, I did want to suggest that you check out this website that offers various kinds of 44 40 Ammo. They have a wide variety of ammo available and they might have something that could work for your rifle. It might be exactly what you were originally looking for, and sometimes you've got to make do with what's available.
And who knows, maybe you'll end up like the 44-40 ammo so much that you'll stick with it even after you're able to start reloading for the 45-60. It's always good to have some variety in your ammo collection, right?

Stuff isn't all that hard to find, ya just gotta be willing to pay for it. That's the hard part.

If you're going to shoot these 76s you're going to have to learn to reload.
