The Winchester Model 1876 / Re: Loading Data for the 50/95WCF

.509? Wow, that would not be good for my Presidio. Mine slugged out at .513, I cast at .515. Most definitely you'd need to slug your bore.

I have a Lee Shaver (www.leeshavergunsmithing.com) economy soule sight on my '76 and am very happy with it.  I also put his globe front sight on the rifle.  Great guy to work with.

I realize this thread is almost 4 years old from OP, but I just bought a brand new 24" blued .357 and they were also offering in other calibers, and in SS.

Gents, et al,
If y’all don’t mind I’d like to reenergize this series somewhat.
I don’t have enough equipment to reload just yet, so I got some Steinel ammo from Cimarron in 50-95…350 grain cast projo, but that’s all the data…expensive.
I shot up a box last week with my Presidio. I have a little bitty Caldwell barrel brace and a t-shirt, shooting at 50 yards…I should have gone to Cabelas and got a limb saver before going to the range…..shame.(couple weeks before I shot without the muzzle brace…worthless for really assessing accuracy)..i might be repeating some things here but what I want to get to is that despite my worst efforts this rifle and this ammo CAN BE AC-CU-RATE!! Shoots rather high at 50 so the combination must be regulated at 100.
Has anyone shot this Steinel 50-95 over a cronograph??
This is a really good rifle/ammo combination!
I have purchased several boxes primarily for the brass. This ammo is specifically made for Cimmeron rifles. Its loaded with 350 grain hardcast bullets (from Montana bullets). If i recall they are sized to 0.509 inches. The powder is Trailboss. 18 grains.  I would suggest you slug your bore, so when you start loading you can get the proper diameter.

1911 & Wild Bunch Shooting / Re: 1911 magazines

Looking over my current "herd" of WB magazines a few days ago, I find 4 Metalform -welded base plate. I've been using them for 6-7 years with no troubles. However, one looked a bit mis-shaped on the "welded" floorplate. I see one weld looks a bit weak/cracked. That's no good - Moved it to the "parts/repair" box. I see the other 3 have a similar looking weak weld, but are still holding tight. I pulled 2 old mags from the box -of which the bases can be removed (and can do so - unexpectedly - when inserting) Got out my 6-32 tap & threaded the hole in the inner tab & installed a screw to snug it all tight - very solid now, but have yet to test them.

Seeing a possible shortcoming in serviceable mags, I put some MecGar mags on order. So, I'll see how they're constructed one of these days. Meanwhile I'm cutting some leather base pads.

I try not to drop empty (worse loaded😲) mags onto a hard surface - wooden deck, concrete 😳 I know that's bad news. I recall a couple mishaps like that in the past couple years. Note to self - don't drop them.

Regards,
Slim

Thanks Marshal. You know I will be making something for them to ride in once I ever get a pair.
Outstanding!

This is a good choice, especially if you are going to do some CAS matches. 5.5 balances well and is easy to move quickly from target to target. 8" is the coolest looking and fun to shoot but for a match, maybe not quite as quick. Shorter is great for maneuverability and speed on the clock but (my personal opinion, here, and probably just my childhood Western movie indoctrination showing through) they loose something aesthetically. At CAS distances, any length is accurate enough.

Looking forward to seeing what you get. AND seeing the leather you make for them. ;D

Thanks Marshal. You know I will be making something for them to ride in once I ever get a pair.
