A friend just gifted me a Walther P-38, He's in his 80's and wants to downsize some of his guns. While I was at the FFL doing the paperwork I noticed an Uberti .45 Colt in the case,I asked about it and it was owned by a friend of mine that passed away a couple years ago and his son was selling it. I picked it up for $325.00 out the door. Pictures to follow once I get the permission slip from the peoples republic of New Yorkistan.

What you may have is a war era refinish (you said Parkerized finish)
After Germany surrendered, German & Austrian Police were also disarmed.
During the occupation, the allies realized they needed
what had been local police. Under de-Nazification the US, England and France re-armed the former Local police.
Your gun may have been issued in that re-armament using captured arms.

Last post by GaryG - Yesterday at 08:08:05 AMIt could have been ordered that way but I suspect the frame was sent to Turnbull by mistake. We had a single action where the frame was sent to Turnbull but the guys made a mistake and sent the backstop also. Maybe the TG also can't remember. Anyway the gun was sent out with a colorcase BS also.
