Morning y'all.
Coffee and Swea'Tea are ready.

'Tis 65 and sunny. "Warmer. Sunny in the morning  then mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the middle 80s. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent."

The Longbranch / Re: Cutting down hat brim

If I were doing it to my hat I would get a very large piece of cardboard with a hole cut out for the center of the hat. Lay that over the existing brim so you cant see it then make another piece of tagboard with the center removed and keep trying different cuts on multiple pieces of tagboard until you find one you like. Then use that one for your pattern. Of course trace the original brim on your tagboard so you know what you’re starting with. You could even do several and slowly shrink your cuts. Of course if you go to far there’s always the Bowler but nobody liked the Pinkertons.

Hi

I looked at your profile and you're a Floridian.  That makes me wonder if your hat is a Straw hat or a Felt hat.  There is a guy in Tampa, which is a LONG drive from the Panhandle.  If you try to cut down the brim on a Straw hat, you're either have to sew a ribbon around the edge or it will unravel quickly.  You have some chance with a Felt hat.

I'm a Do It Yourself type on belts and holsters, but not on hats.

Good luck.

Hi

Well, it COULD BE WORSE.  The Amateur Trapshooting Association Grand American is shot in Sparta Illinois and have shot there since 2006.  The state of Illinois has tried to pass laws banning all semi-automatics, large gauge shotguns etc for years.  It's my understanding that the state sort of bribed them to come there.

That's what I was wondering.  So basically just get a new cylinder.

I don't have an open top, so this is all academic for me.

Yes, he was talking about Uberti-made Open Top parts, not SAA parts

No, he means an Uberti opentop cylinder made in the last ten years.

The Leather Shop / Fortner's Frontier Leather

Boy I hate doing this. Back in January I ordered a shoulder holster from the above company. We communicated by E-mail several times to get the order straight. After that it was several more to establish payment method which eventually was my wife's PayPal account. Each time I sent an E-mail I received an almost immediate response from Mr. Fortner(I presume). After a few weeks I sent another E-mail to make sure the payment was received and the response was "it's finished and I already sent it out". I tried to verify a tracking number with him and I got no response--ever. After repeated attempts over the course of months I never did get a reply to my situation. To top it off, PayPal wouldn't honor the deal with a refund. I finally placed an order for a similar shoulder holster with El Paso Saddlery and was very happy with the quality.
What finally prompted this was another E-mail from Fortner's with "another great deal for you!!!" Better carefully consider placing an order with Mr. Fortner.

By a "modern-made cylinder" do you mean a Uberti SAA cylinder?
