Hi

All pistol might work for me anyway, the range with movable targets has fixed tables most of the way across, with openings to change targets.

Not quite settled as to what to do today, might go to the LGS  :-\ no real reason (as if I need one)
no clams in the sack for trading, don't you know?

Might go do some display dressing at the U-see-UM,
maybe lunch at the Wok n Roll or PF Chang's  :-\

Ain't being retired great?  :)

Spencer Shooting Society / Re: Early Spencer Carbine Serial Number Lookup

John,

Need to see a photo of the Spencer Carbine, serial # 5157. My SRS books show the serial #s in that range as being issued RIFLES.  Your 5157 may have been modified and rebuilt as a carbine?????  Serial # under the forend should be the same # 5157 . . . check that out.

John, are you a firearms dealer?  You've been interested in Spencer serial #s going back to 2014 ??? ???

Spencer Shooting Society / Early Spencer Carbine Serial Number Lookup
« Last post by jsmosby on August 11, 2022, 07:39:05 PM »
A friend here in Colorado recently purchased what appears to be a complete and original carbine.  The four-digit serial number, 5157, blew me away.  I just didn't expect to see such a low number in addition to two script inspection cartouches on the wrist yet to be ID'd.   Please provide any information you may have that I can pass on to him and "light the fire".  I think he has an interesting piece.  Thank you for your time and effort.  Take care, John

I've never heard that about HP38 (or 231).  You're not thinking of Titegroup are you?  They definitely say that one is not position sensitive.  I've used it and it is okay but a little "snappy".

MY BAD  ::) ::), believe yer right Abilene, had a brain seizure of some kind.  ;D Was thinking of Titegroup which I've shot alot of in various calibers. I do like Titegroup though. I believe yer right, it is a bit 'snappier' than 231/HP38, but not enough to hinder shooting IMO. I did research HP38 on Hodgdons site before posting this, no mention of it being position insensitive. I DID go back to my last post before this and edited it to prevent any confusion by any readers.
