The "Military" or "Musket" style of rifle was somewhat popular among civilians in the late 19th, early 20th century. But its a designation of type, like "Carbine", not an indication of military service. As well models like this were often trial balloons to demonstrate production capabilitys, and to try to generat interest in various War Departments. Though I have seen no evidence of it, like many other weapons, I suppose the Lightning was offered to various militarys during its production run, but was never adopted by any.
