M1880 Hunting knife
« on: December 09, 2020, 04:50:50 PM »
I've got a question for you guys who know more than I do. :)

What do you guys think about this repro by What price Glory?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/M1880-Hunting-Knife-with-Leather-Sheath-Reproduction/333814937789?hash=item4db8ebb8bd:g:KHsAAOSwxKBfyo-c

Looks like there is a price break for 4 or more.  Maybe we can do a group buy if enough guys are interested?

Hi, I have one on the way, I was going for two, but purchased an 1892 undress tunic instead.  Now I need to get a pair of the royal blue pants to go with that.  I pinged Jerry before I punched buy, and he said that they still had his original in India so they should be the right size, unlike someone else's overreproduction.  I have a picture that I'll post later.  The originals say that they're 13 9/16th and the picture I took shows that the one Jerry had made is a bit over 13.5 inches long, i.e. within range.

Yup,  I saw your post.  That is what motivated me to post this.  I really, really, really, really, really want one of these.   Pretty nice that Jerry sent his original to them to copy.

I wonder if we could organize a group buy.  My other thought is i would buy for of them to save the cost then reship them to buyers.

BTW....I might have a pair of the royal blue pants to sell.  What size are you?

These are 38x34.  I picked them up because they were supposed ot be sky blue but they sure seem to be the M1885 version.  They are definitely a more royal blue.  Drop me a pm if interested.

HI Smoke

38W x 36L usually

Mike
Remember, his pants are not sized like modern. I wear 38 in jeans, but I got WPG's blue trousers in size 44-fit perfect. All depends on how much "overhang" a person's got, I guess.

Oh yeah....I get that.  I wear 34/35 waist in jeans depending the maker.  These are w38's and are a bit looser than a pair of w38 Frontier Classics that I have.

Sadly I don't think that the 34 inch inseam will work.  Long legs and I will probably wear them with some period dress shoes I bought from Missouri Boot and Shoe.

I can get 4 of them delivered to me for $95 each.  Figure $12 or so to ship  it depending on where you are.  That would be a savings of $13 per man if 4 of us wanted them.  I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle. ???

Measure at just below the belly button where they hang.   BTW I wear the same size jeans as frontier pants but I use real suspenders and don't try to kid myself.

Just say no to butt crack.

No experience with them but usually WPG's stuff is spot on.

Smoke, Any chance you might be coming to the Grand Muster?

I would love too but that is the usually the time we do a family vacation on Cape Cod.  It depends on how the weekends fall and when we travel to Mass.
