Title: ISO Uberti 1873 rifle toggles
Post by: Ghostdevilguy on March 30, 2024, 12:11:11 PM: I have a short stroked 357 1873 rifle with abysmal headspace and I want to see if the kit is the problem or not. If anyone has a factory set of toggles laying around they don't need, I'd be happy to work out a deal.

My question: How was your Rifle Short Stroked?? In the grand scheme of things, if a rifle has questionable Head Space OEM, and the Short Stroke is "cut and weld" the cut and weld makes it worse.

Often, if a rifle has wonky Head Space, a Short Stroke "KIT" can resolve most of the issue. We would need to know, if a kit was used, who made the kit (Pictures). The current manufacturers of Kits can and will offer Links longer than stock to help correct bad head space.

Pioneer Gunworks are really good folks. Measure your head space between the cartridge base and breach face of the Bolt with a tapered thickness gauge. Then Call Pioneer and let them know the dimension and they can make you a set of corrective links. May not be perfect but they will get you as close as possible.

In your situation, the Head Space with OEM links is meaningless. Simply doesn't matter. Pioneer may also exchange your present link set.
