Picked Up Another Vaquero
« on: August 14, 2022, 10:45:30 AM »
Went to a gun show yesterday and this beauty followed me home. Always good to add another Vaquero to the stable.

This one is an Old Vaquero in .45 Colt with a 7.5" barrel.

I can't be the only one who really liked Ruger Vaqueros when they came with a real bluing and their color case hardening. Now, I know their CCH was not the best but once it wore off I really like the grays it produced. I'm not crazy about stainless guns even though I have a few. I prefer blued and CCH. I really don't care for the matte black guns they were making and haven't bought a new one lately so I don't know what they are doing now.

I just know I love the look of the Old Vaqueros and the early New Vaqueros.

Now, What kind of holster do I want to make for this one? Hmmmmm.

It looks like a fine one.
Calamity JoAnne shoots a pair of older K-Vaqs in .44 Mag with the 7'5" barrels too.

Long barrels used to be a thing for us.  I started shooting SASS with a pair of K-Supers with 10.5" barrels.
I shot clean a lot, but I was P-R-E-T-T-Y S-L-O-W to draw.

Sounds like a fun time though. Even if the times are slower.
