1890's U.S. .38 Holster reproductions?
« on: February 25, 2018, 03:05:57 PM »
Gentlemen,  Does anyone make a reproduction of the U.S. .38 holster that was in use in the 1890's?  What Price Glory has a later model in russet leather, but I'm looking for the earlier pattern and in black.

WPG has the 1904 holster, same thing in natural leather.  I've been using a Coon Creek .38 holster for years.

I agree that Coon Creek is your best bet.  They only stock the most popular selling items but if you give Buck a call he can take special orders.  I've asked him for more than one, one off reproduction and he has always been willing to go to his holster maker and get it made for me.  He must have an extensive library, he also knows military collectors who may have samples of what you're looking for.  He's always been able to come up with specifications for what I've asked for but if you have documentation, specks, drawings or photos of what you're looking for that may help as well.
Happy Trails

If an example is in "Packing Iron" by Rattenbury;  Homer Brown (out of Kentucky) can make it.

I have a couple of his holsters.  Very good quality and reasonable prices.

I bought the 1904 cartridge box from them and dyed it black to get the 1890's model. It worked well.
