Yes I was, what's it to you? ;D

Was -15 not sure WC, don't care.   Wife went to Dr appointment, picking up a friend to run her around, got AAA in case of trouble, don't care.   Furnace can't quite keep up unless we light the oven for 10-15 minutes a couple times a day, don't care.   Didn't get the garbage in the kitchen out last night, don't care.   My give a damn is busted, don't care. ::)

I shouldn't laugh but I did, they are going to do some of these rolling black outs here.    Anyway they just started in January running coal trains on a line that had been shut down.  Coal to the plant at Nebraska City, one of our major suppliers.  Well looked at a map, first area shut down is the new neighborhood near the tracks that have been complaining about the noise of the twice a day trains.   Both about 8 am and pm.    No I shouldn't laugh, but would have made the same decision. ;D  Area is probably full of 'lectric cars also.

Forced power outages started up here in Omaha, too.
Looking for low tonight of -30℉ actual temperature. Doesn't make sense, as an hour without heat and when they turn the electricity back on, the furnace will run twice as long to reheat the house . . .
Cold cuts for dinner tonight.

BUT!!!!! National Weather Service predicts a high next Monday of 39℉. Everyone will be out in their shorts and sandals.

Things don't have to make sense, it just has to look like you are doing something.

All these people who say stuff it we make our own are now using because them solar panels are covered with snow and ice, might as well be night, half the windmills in Texas are froze up, they are deicing them with helicopters. ::)  Germany messed them selves up so bad by shutting most the coal plants down they are very short and buying what others will sell them which ain't much.

-19℉ now at 3:00am.

Boiling hot coffee is on. Daughter has to be up for work at 5:00, so I'm on call to drive her if her car doesn't start.

Schools are closed, so grandson can sleep in. I think later we'll go out on the back porch with a cup of hot water and do that experiment where you throw it up in the air and it instantly freezes into an ice storm. He'll get a kick out of that.

Everyone stay safe and limit your exposure to this cold weather as much as you can.

-20 F ?

don't know what all the fuss is.

that's every winter in Frostbite Falls Minnesota, or Fargo ND .

I'm surprised Dastardly Dick hasn't mentioned that yet.

-40 or -50 F, now that's something.
Engine oil turns to pudding.
Battery posts snap off when you try to pull the cables to brimg them in the house to warm up enough to start the car.
frostbite affects exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.

-9 here this morning. Couldn't get the tractor to run yesterday, would start but starved of fuel after just a minute or a few seconds sometimes. Neighbor came over with his haybed truck and set out a few bales of hay for me. should last until the cold moderates a little. Got work today, if and when any mail arrives. Car should start, drove it several times yesterday, last time after 11pm.

Corn flakes & fresh blue berries....

I 've never experienced below 0 cold, coldest was 9° in Hagerstown Maryland , when we filmed "Gods & Generals"

This cracker was not dressed for it , just jeans, leather bomber jacket & running shoes...though I'd froze my ample ass off....

but looked in a mirror ,  it was numb but still there   ::)

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are hot.

Daughter #2 went in the ditch on the way to student teaching. Called Sheriff and tow truck. Take an hour for tow truck, so better-half took a vehicle so daughter can get to school.

Only -5 and sunny. Heatwave. WC -19. High of 18.

Morning all.

Family is sticking around until the end of the storm. Lookout Pass on the Idaho border is closed from 3 feet of white stuff. We got about 6” in town.  Currently 16 above zero, breaking the zero seal for the first time in a week.
