Title: Took the Century Limited 1894 to an annual match
Post by: Tuolumne Lawman on October 18, 2021, 09:53:21 PM
Took the old girl to the annual "Peaceful's End of Track" at Railroad Flat, CA.  I shot the first day Wild Bunch match with it, and most of the 12 stages of the annual match with it also.  Shot absolutely clean with it, including some distance (50 yard) targets.  MUCH faster than my beloved 1860 Henry, though the HRA 1860 is as accurate!

Initially I only planned on using it for the first day Wild Bunch match, but enjoyed it so much, I continued using it instead of the Henry for most stages of the main match.

It loved 7.0 grains of Trail Boss under a Bear Creek 205 grain. .428 bullet.

That is one handsome rifle,  I'd like the Case Colors on my 1894CL "Classic" 32/20

Wow, this forum is asleep!  Anyway, I feel the need to Take the Century Limited "for a walk," so to speak. I am taking the Century Limited to a local match  Saturday.  Pairing it up with my Rossi Coach Gun and a pair of Kirst 1860 Pietta .45 conversions...

So, I guess the rifle whispered to you, "if you're not going to sell me, then shoot me!"   :)

LOL!  Decided not sell!  It is just too sweet a shooter, not to have it!  While my HRA "New Original Henry" is sweet, the Century is more accurate and smoother.

Gave the 1860 Henry a rest, and took the Century Limited to the local match.  Shot clean, including an unusual 25 yard bunny target.  There was a 4" circle in the bunny's cheek, that if you hit it, you made the bunny "happy" (it triggered a 12" penis that dropped down at a 45 degree angle, that was hidden before it was triggered!.  Probably the most unusual target I have ever shot, or even seen!

Leave next week again for the 4 day, annual High Sierra Shoot out at Railroad Flat, CA.  First day is wild Bunch, so the Marlin will be spittin' lead!  While I know I will be using the 1860 Henry a lot during the main match, I have a feeling the Century will shoot at least half the stages, too.

I i get ready to leave to another annual match with it, I realize I never updated after the spring match (High Sierra Shoot Out).  Once again, shot most of the match with the Marlin instead of the 1860 Henry.  Once again, shot clean with the Marlin, including from the moving ore cart.  It is a shooting machine!

Next week I go again to the fall version of the same match Peaceful's end of Track. I expect it will once again, do most of the match.

I really like mine also,  Have you loaded any black powder behind MavD bullets and shot a match with them yet?  You"ll walk around grinning for about three days afterwards if ya do!!
