Title: Allen Firearms Stainless Steel Colt style revolvers
Post by: smittyc7 on March 02, 2022, 08:26:46 AM
Hi folks,

I just bought a Allen stainless steel .36 and I'm looking for information about it.  Made in 1984 or at least I think so, the date code is AM.  Been put away and never fired, but I can't verify that until I take it apart and look inside.  Anyone out there with info on them?  I'll post a photo too.

Fingers McGee on this site collects them.  If he doesn't see this, send him a P.M.  Also, search for his posts on here about them, probably mostly on the STORM forum.

Oops, I see you already found one of his posts.

The pistol shown looks like a 36 cal 1851 Navy not a 44. The cylinder is not rebated. It is a beauty though.

This makes 39 SS Uberti Colts known.  This is the first Civilian model 1851 identified.  Civilian model because it has the oval shaped trigger guard and is not cut for a shoulder stock.  Since this the first civilian model to pop up in the 16 years I've been collecting, tracking and recording SS Colts, I'd say it is a rare find."

Yep.  My bad, it is a .36.  I just didn't think and type at the same time.  I favor Remingtons that I can swap cylinders quickly and my brain thought .44.

I've decide to sell this pistol, living in a gun safe, it is not being enjoyed by anyone.  What is the best site in everyone's opinion? I've never bought or sold from any, I have sold a few Sharps and a Spencer, but private sales rather than auction type sites.  Any pitfalls I need to be aware of?

Seems like you have a buyer.  If Fingers has never seen one I am sure he would like to add it to his collection.

I'm interested in acquiring it if it's still available. I've not been on Cas City much and lost track of this thread.

Seems he was last on CASCity a week ago.  If you PM him he might see this sooner.
