Slings
« on: January 14, 2016, 12:33:24 PM »
I am fortunate to live very near the excellent Henry Ford Museum.  Its a wonderful collection of technological artifacts from the last three centuries, including a case of 'cowboy' guns.  The case contains one of the original Henrys with an engraved silver receiver.

What really caught my eye where the sling swivels mounted on the stock and barrel.

I would love to have this done to my italian Henry.  Has anyone added sling swivels to their guns?  What did it cost?

Uberti used to do a Military Henry which came with these, they may still do this. Look at the web site.

The parts for the Sling Mounts for a Henry are readily available (or should be) from VTI Gunparts, along with the screws.
It involves driling and tapping the barrel for the front loop and inletting the Butt Stock for the rear loop.  Any competent Gunsmith
should be able to do it for you.  Hourly rates would apply.

Mike:  Yes.  The "martial" Henry is still available.  Cimarron carries them and I'm pretty sure Taylor's does as well.  The OP, however,
wants to have them added to a rifle he already owns.

Notice as well the extremely rare right side mounted sling swivels.  ;)

FCK,

I would suspect this is a custom order firearm.
Not only because of the "right" side mounting of the standard swivels (usually placed on the left side), but because of the silver plating and engraving.

Back in 1980 I bought a Navy Arms Henry ... no sling attachment

at the time Dixie Gun Works had original (NOS) swivel & stirrup.... I think the pair were under $12 shipped
I had them installed on that Henry (left side)  , sold the gun in 88 and bought it back in 09 from the same fellow.
I had used and abused it on Horse Back reenacting , he on the other hand stuck it in his safe ( call it a time capsule )
having never shot it....

Just a little "oh by the way" speed bump in the topic  :)

I picked up an RCMP 'Sam Browne' c/w cross strap at a gun show for peanuts. The x-strap and a brass hook gives me a period looking sling for my Henry.
