You get used to the humidity around here.  We usually don't have cold weather around here until Jan. or Feb. The Panhandle is a different story. Anytime after Labor Day it can can and keep snowinf till after Memorial Day.  I don't like wintertime, so I live here. If I was rich and famous I would live in Scottsdale, Arizona.

OK, as lame as it sounds I discovered the ultimate campin accessory.
When our friends finnaly made it up here last Thursday they started passin out gifts.  I got a pair of flip flops.  Never owned any kind of sandle before, just boots and the occasional pair of sneakers.
While at the camp ground and down at the river I found that...
flip flops =freedom, specialy when ya gotta get up in the middle of the night ta visit the latrine.  At the beach I didn't burn the heck outta my feet on the hot sand.  This may be common knowledge ta all those who do other than reenactment camping, but it was a revelation ta me.  Never thought I'd own a pair, but fer campin it was one of the best gifts I ever got.

Walkin' around outside without shoes is not a good idea anytime. Your feet are your foundation and you gotta take of them.

I'll keep it quiet, but lookin around I realized everyone was wearin em.  All I wore fer three an a half days.
They blended much better with the shorts than the boots did ::)  Didn't get no funny looks this time around.

I got a "going ta town pair of leather sandals"  that's got the suported insole, straps all around to hold it in place.  keeps yer feet from hurting when ya walk some.

that's ma summertime outfit.  ;D  ma shorts with an oversized polo shirt to hide my CCW,

around the farm here it's them heavy soled flip flops, plenty of cushion for the feet.  shorts and T shirt.

Seen quite a few pairs a them out there too.  Looked handy fer walkin around on the shallow rocky parts of the river bed.  The look of em reminded me of Peppermint Patty in the Peanuts comics, but I could see how useful they must be.  Mebbe next summer I'll move up to em.

Never enter a public shower without a pair!  I got a bad case of athlete's foot every time I did it.  Now, I have very little muscle control of my right foot, so I have to wear a sandal with a strap around the back.  You'll never believe how much your toes work to keep those things on until you can't wiggle them anymore. ::)

I have a pair of water shoes...they are mesh around the top of the foot and rubber on the bottom...meant for walkin on the beach and in the river...I've used them to go in the showers with but they are a pain because they are not so easily slip on/off...Got me a pair of rubber sandal type things a couple days ago and tossed in my camping stuff. Got 'em at Wally World, they have a strap you can put on your heel or move to the top so you can just slip them on. They came in many fashionable colors too  :D

Never could get along with a hunk of plastic twix my toes. My problem.

Before ya go stickin’ Crocs on yer kid or grandkid ‘n ridin’ escalators do a Google search on crocs+escalator. Could be bad.

I don’t do flip flops well, as I can’t stand that little thingy between my toes, either.  My solution was a pair of leather unlined moccasins.  They are also good to PC camping, but don’t work too well if your wading in rocky river bottoms.

We got too much Humidity in the summer for leather shoes, they mildew sometimes, if not properly conditioned.

Humidity taint really a problem here most of the time.  We’re at about 92 and a 9% humidity, and got a 10 mph wind out’a the NW (blowing the smoke back toward Yosemite).  Weather doesn’t get much better than this! ;D ;D ;D  Gotta go just received a large case of COL (cat on lap), makes it hard to type!  ::);D
