While not as period correct as Grant, I marked Dominion Day by buying a gun - a Remington R1 .45 ACP for the "Wild Bunch" type of shooting I hope to promote locally.
I asked Ellwood Epps to hand select one with a good trigger pull. 'Jason' and a couple of his workmates culled three from the herd and selected one as the best. That's service! No wonder we keep buying guns there.

To celebrate, my wife and I went to the range, she with her .44 '92 and pistols, me with my tricked out Gold Cup. In no time, we had each burned up 150 rounds! Thank God for the brass picker-upper we bought recently from Lee Valley!

I had forgotten what a joy it is to shoot a .45 ACP, especially one as royally decked out as mine - beaver tail, ambi, mag chute, etc. I dug out one of my 'practical' Milt Sparks holsters (right hip, covered trigger guard), mag pouches and did the IPSC drills - single draw & fire at 15 and 25 m, double taps at 10 followed by a 'B' zone, strong hand, weak hand .....

Happy B'day, Canada!

Well.   It rolling up again. Tomorrow is Canada`s 145th birthday.  That is the Official Day. but there was a lot of blood sweat and tears after that to establish Canada is an Independant Sovereign Nation.  As buying guns seems to have shown up as a Chinook Country tradition, I have dibs on a papered, Canadian Militia marked 1878 Colt!

Huzzah!

The Model 1878 sounds like a nice acquisition .... be sure to post pictures, when you get it.  (I am told my reproduction Spencer rifle is finally in Canada, at least, though it hasn't reached the dealer yet, apparently.)
