John Wayne’s cartridge money belt
« on: February 22, 2021, 01:04:36 PM »
Saw something really interesting. I saw online that the October 2007 issue of The American Rifleman had really good articles about the Duke’s pistol and holster. Well bein a big JW fan, I ordered a copy.
In the good picture they show of the belt, there is a separate layer of suede sewn to the inside of the belt covering just the cartridge loop area.
Wonder what the purpose of that was?

I seem to remember reading that the loops on his money belt were sewn all the way through. It may be to do with that . . .

Looking closely, I don’t see any stitches showing. Possibly done to cover the stitching to prevent wear?
