New forum here in NZ
« on: December 15, 2005, 05:30:58 PM »
OK lads and lassies  I dont know if this is of interest to you but there is a forum similar to this just here in NZ. It is, at the moment generall shooting and such but the admin is hoping to get all aspects of the shooting sports interested in using it. If there is demand he has told me he will have no hesitation in adding new sections for whatever disciplines requested. There is no way I wish to subtract from CAS-City but rather to augment it with local flavour.

The site has been going fore a while but has only 125 registered users, so far. I am going to put the word out amongst all the NZ CAS shooters, BP shooters and such. I love my very frequent visits to this site but sometimes the threads, I find are very much biased towards the continent of North Americam and as someone from the southern climes I get a bit bewildered by local references.

I enjoy reading of everything for sale, finding out about those persons and companies that can do great work of equipment but as I live thousands of miles from them and a lot of beurocratic paperwork is involved in using such services I tend to just pass them by. I love the news and stories posted here but just sometimes I wish for something just a little bit closer to home.

As I have said this forum is not CAS specific and there are no sections actually dedicated to our sport yet. but if you are interested then the URL is as follows;

http://www.imas.co.nz/forum/index.php

I hope to see as many of you there as possible. I know the admin wishes his site to grow. All you fellow shooters from OZ and the US please have a look, I hope you will join in as there is a wealth of info out there that is absolutely brilliant to tap into.

Dai.

Cheers Dakota Dan,

I do like to support local enterprises when able. I know were 1200 miles apart but we're pretty much the same cultural background.

I belong to about 10 different sites now. Most shooting related. This is the first that is localk to me. I have often thought about starting a CAS site here in NZ , specially since I'm in the trade, but never really got round to it.

Might be popping over your way in Feb. I work for Freedom Air and they have just given me two free tickets to any destination they run to.

All I have to do is pay the taxes.

Spoke to a mate and he is interested in a weekend over there to check out the CAS scene. Any Cas events on in Feb?

Got no one else to share the tickets with as the missus and kids are still in the UK for the foreseeable future, so I might as well share my good fortune with my mates.

We have a couple of local clubs that will have Sunday shoots on and they are not far from Newcastle Airport.I do not know if you can fly into there or not.

Keep a check on our Aussie web site at    http://www.cass-australia.com

Hope to see you in February somewhere on a range.

Trinity, you dang weenie, did you tell them Kiwis somethin' derogatory about me?

That site won't let me even take a peek, an' I can't register.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.  This an' them black heliochopters.

Trinity is my twin brother.

He's nine and a half years younger than I am (give or take 25 years) and we have different parents.

I'm Scottish and Italian, he's Korean and Eskimo.

I was raised by wolves until I was fifteen when I was found by a lady environmentalist running naked in the woods.  She said, "Come with me."  I told her, "Not until you put some clothes on."

Trinity was raised by Baptist monks in the mountains on the border of West Virginia and Tibet.  He has an invisible mystical  tatoo on his left little finger

Federal law prohibits us from ever being within 500 miles of one another.

I've never met him and, coincidentally, he's ever met me, either.

I hope that clears things up for you.

Thanks for asking.

Brothers definitely. I can vouch for that as it turns out I seem to be a long lost cousin, recently discovered in  the Antipodes

Its a family thing,

Was born "antipodean" so was my father and mother, never been to the podes but have an inherited mistrust of them

Sort of similar to those who vote for a particular party because their family always has.

I know what you mean,

Ran a public house in the UK for 11 years.

Learnt that the two worst topics that possibly could be argued in a pub were, politics and religion.

Neither go down well with a nice pint of porter.

I am here in New Zealand and had a look at the site but somehow do not feel a kinship to some of those registered. I am a very active shooter and collector but somehow that forum isnt for me. I do however feel comfortable with this site and see just so much that I can equate to,  contribute to and learn from, so here I am feeling good being part of a forum in the US of A and reluctant to join one in my own country!
