Not dead but have pretty well slept almost 24 hours, not sure if I'm getting sick again, stress or both.  Feeling better, sometimes you just have to do that.

Well, we were fortunate yesterday as the tornado's storms split and passed our town both North and South of us. Still some very heavy rain and winds, but no damage at Casa Deacon. Worked today, good day, then took the Missus out to dinner. Gonna go over my Sunday School lesson for tomorrow again. You all be careful!

Howdy Y'all, went to the 1st CAS match of the year here. My first stage was a train wreak with a miss, a bad round and a badly fumbled reload that gave me a 48 second time. The other 4 stages were high 20's low 30's with 2 clean stages and total of 3 misses for the match. I guess it could have been worse. Temps started in mid 30's but got up yo low 50's and sunny. Next shoot in 2 weeks.

Evening all, I’ll stir the coals.

Hailed most of the day in town, high of 45. Mrs TK and I went to The City where it was 58 and sunny.

Our plan had been to go to the Turtle Bay Park/natural history museum and grab lunch at the little restaurant on site. Unfortunately, they are closed Sat-Tue until the second week of April. So instead we spent 4 hours shaving her horse.  ::)

Doc wants the triad, blood, and #1 & 2 samples, was in & out in 10 minutes (#2 is completed at home)  ::).
Then grabbed a bagel & OJ.... then on to my coffee fix  :)

I have to pull out the old washer, the circuit board quit working and its now out of warranty.
Fact is that part has been a bug a boo since we bought it 5 years ago, it had been replaced twice under warranty. We decided not to call for a service person in that just to come out is $95 + the $$$ parts.
The new machine will be installed Thursday.

Glad you are rested up Del, good thoughts continue for Rita and yourself...

Musically, I seem to dwell under a rock.
Sure, I've heard the songs, and perhaps an artist(s) and even like the piece but did not associate the two or even have it register.  ???
Course if it were the Beatles, or 'Stones, Bee Gee's, Clapton, or Dire Straits etal I knew of them.
throw in some ELO and Eagles, Animals, Turtles, Who, and Nitty Gritty Dirt...

These were some of my favorites, maybe above all the Brothers GiBB.
Now they are all but gone, only Barry remains and of the others many are in the Righteous Brothers "Hell of Band"

But I had look up Warren Zevon, Werewolves of London? I seem to recall the group name.

Evening all.

Rainy and cool today out here.

I spent today being a gopher for my mother, as she had carpel tunnel surgery yesterday and can’t use one hand. Mostly, that entailed scooping ice cream and telling the TV to play the next episode of “Survivorman: Bigfoot.”

I did pull out my befuddling 1858 revolver today. Before I went to Montana it had started having issues with timing. The cylinder turns and locks up correctly but the hammer won’t hold at full cock. The confusion comes from it being normally with the cylinder removed. I’ve suspected it was the hand, but never got around to taking a more thorough look. Pulled it out tonight and what do you know, the hand has a bit of peening on the nose. I suspect that may be part of it.

Good to see you Roo.

Werewolves of London is crazy fun

"I saw a werewolf drinkin' a piña colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect"

Then there is his pretty sick ones like "excitable boy"

and "roland the headless thomson gunner" ( yup really about a merc with a thompson )
and "send lawyers guns and money"
and "send in the envoy"
and more ....

but then we also like Don Henley - "All She Wants To Do Is Dance"

"Molotov cocktail, the local drink
And all she wants to do is dance, dance
They mix 'em up right
In the kitchen sink
And all she wants to do is dance"

yup we are wacky

oh and the weather is now mild and sunny....

Don't forget Robert Earl Keene

We made Oklahoma a little after 3
Randy, his brother Bob and my old GMC
We had some moonshine whisky
And some of Bob's homegrown
We were so messed up we didn't know
If we were drunk or stoned
Randy was a sad-sack, tall kinda frail
Bob was a raving maniac, crazy in the head

Since then they've done their little dance

To want to tag along
Cause I was raised a Christian
And I knew right from wrong

Right or wrong, black or white
Cross the line, you're gonna pay
In the dawn before the light
Live and die by the shades of gray

We stole two Charolais heifers from
Randy's sweetheart's paw
Sold them at the livestock sale
Outside of Wichita

We got $900 and never did suspect
The world of hurt we'd be in once
We cashed that check
Next day we heard the story
On the local radio
Made our plans that very night
To go to Mexico
I swear we would have made it
If it wasn't for that shine
I got sick about the time we crossed
That Kansas line

Right or wrong, black or white
Cross the line, you're gonna pay
In the dawn before the light
Live and die by the shades of gray

Rita is doing fine with here first treatment.  Minor upset stomach.  Second one in 2 weeks from Tuesday, then wait two weeks and do an MRI, if it has shrunk we keep on this one, if not then the chemo/radiation and go from there.

He had moved into into the sphere of being a “producer” for a number of years. physical/family issues pushed him that way. I believe he was also a consultant for several shows as well. His new show is about searching for Sasquatch, but without all the TV drama. My mom enjoys it, and as both mom and gimp, it was her call.

Presently 66° , Cloudy with a high of 76 °F  and a 55% chance of precipitation.

"SWWBO" made a spiral ham for Easter repast, So I am enjoying my coffee with leftover ham & a biscuit this morning.

I have a stash of once fired 30 06 Milsurp brass I am going to de-prime and wet tumble.
I've actually never ventured into this, not sure if it's folly  :-\
Lee Universal de-prime dye did not have the oomph to use my press to overcome the crimp.
So, I resorted to a hand pin punch and a homemade shell holder Dealie.
This setup works reasonably well. The Lee shell holder is for a handheld primer I had no other need for.
I JB welded it to the birch ply base for both a pocket for a spent primer to fall and to stabilize the contraption.
The Brass is head stamped L C  and either 72 or 77, I'm of the opinion Lack City Arsenal and the years of manufacture.
I'm not sure as to what they were fired from, I'm assuming a Garand because they came with EM Block clips. Thay also dial indicator to the correct OAL so trimming may not be necessary ?

I ordered a pocket ream for the crimp removal, but note a countersink and cordless drill used on Utube  ???

Anyway, new venture for me,  I'm open to comments  ???

Morning all! Contractors are here and already well underway installing the new windows on our back porch, looking forward to this. Easter was great here after services we got home and family came over for dinner and laughs. My Niece brought a girl with them that rides the bus to their church, she doesn't have much of a home, so she was kind of overwhelmed by our crew, but by the end of the afternoon she was grinning and had a good time. Supposed to be nice today, lifting my cup to you all.
Major, that Lake City brass is great stuff, but it is a pain to clean, ream, etc. I always just got commercial brass to run when I could, guess I am just lazy.

I have excitable boy on vinyl.    The best.   I am a big fan of Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.   Back in my youth, we did a lot of RPG gaming, including an old west version (Boot Hill).    Ran a campaign in old mexico where we were being chased by the ghost of a norwegian Roland the Headless Dragoon.   Nerds, what ya going to do.

One of my guilty faves of Warren is Frank and Jesse James.    Check it out, very flattering to the James boys.

Major 2, I got one of the RCBS swage tools to remove primer crimps and it works great. Before that, I used a lee case neck reamer to do it( it's the one that is cone shaped, about an inch long by 3/4" diameter) -about 2-3 cases and the hand cramps start. So far I used it on a bunch of 5.56 brass, some 7.62 Nato, and some 8mm Mauser that had really tight primer pockets.

Thats about 3-4 whacks to pop out the primer,
then 1 1/2 hours in my tumbler with Lemon Shine & Turtle Zip wax.
They were unsized in this particular photo, nor pocket reamed.
I haven't received the Lyman reamer from Amazon yet.

I have 3 new unopened 50 round bags of 30 06 and probably 150 new hand loaded rounds.
In addition, a bin of my fired brass already cleaned & de-primed.
I just felt, these 80 gifted Lack City brass should be processed also....

If I were going to do 100's I would invest into the RCBS or Dillon Swage tool.

Deacon, if you have a group you play with that are fans of westerns, Boot Hill (with some tweeks) is fun.    I played in the 80s, college roommates and we all liked westerns.   It was a good time.   Still have the books, but not played in eons.   Tweeks we made were some firearm issues.   I remember they had cap and ball revolvers only having a 50% chance of firing.   Since that was all I shot until 1996, I vehemently disagreed.   Little things like that.    As I recall it is only one book that I bet can be bought online.

Mogorilla I am not sure if Boot Hill is still being played, but there is a current tabletop western game out there. I will find out and let you know. Labor Day weekend I will be at a game convention in Denton TX, if nothing else I will be able to hunt it up then.

I have three sets of Old West rules I have used.

One year at the National I took a pre-decorated wooden card table, structures and about 30 painted 15mm Western figures and we set it up in the primitive camp site for play testing. Wrote several scenarios for trial.

The three rules sets I  have are:
"Blood & Bullets"
"Rules With No Name"
"A Town Called Malice"

As a matter of fact, it was Trap, Books, Yuma Kid and myself who had fun with it.

Evening/Morning Y'all,
Had a great weather day here, 95degrees, low humidity and sunny with a slight breeze. I took the occasion to change the spark plugs in my beast(16 of them) and replaced a wheel speed sensor that I had a trouble code for. The ABS light went out for about a whole 3/4 of a mile and came back on.Guess I'll have to dig deeper. The outlook for the weekend is 88 today,73 Sat and 66 on Sunday. Hope all Y'all that are ailing are starting to feel better. Enjoy your weekend.

45, headed for 65 in my little corner of The Golden State. Headed down to the valley with Mrs TK to do a little clothes shopping (help) and then play videographer while she horses around.

In other news, I spent $240 yesterday at the vet to be told my dog is old. Thanks doc, could have told you that for free ::) I did get some dog ibuprofen though, which seems to have helped her with mobility after a good walk.

43 and light rain here, nice light rain, started about 10pm.  Not sure how much be badly needed.

Almost lost Rock Creek Station this week.  From what I hear they were able to get in ahead of it and foam down the building with retardant.  They were on mowed grass so they were not in a lot of danger themselves but if it jumped the mowed it would keep going north.  Came right up to the buildings.  The lucky thing is no one was hurt, and they got the planned 10 years of controleed burning done in two days. ::)

Well Happy Birthday!
Yesterday was a mess! Got the phones witched back to my old Motorola, so that is better. Went to reload some ammo and while doing that decided to clean some brass too. Well........turns out the "freezeproof" outside faucet wasn't. So a nice large leak that flooded the master bathroom, laundry room, garage storage room and part of the garage was the result. A couple of hours mopping, etc to get things cleaned up. Yeesh.

OK, if you send me a current E-Mail address I will send to a PDF copy, I figure you all deserve it because since I hope you like it and you will help pitch it.  111 pages with plenty of pictures and information.  Now I can finish the big reference one on Victorian cooking in peace.  The time for this should be ripe because of the amount of people reading my documents on FB in the dutch oven groups and some sales of my docs already up.   I'll post link and such when I get it up, working on an ad of sorts before it goes up.

I should mention that the quality of the dutch oven books on the market I've seen lack a lot.  The only one I ever thought was worth the price is out of print and was wrote by Stella Hughes who used to write for Western Horseman.  When I worked for the Fort I sold probably 10 times more of those than I sold of all others combined.  We bought the last 100 or so they printed and tried to talk them into keeping it in print.

Cooler here today, spent an hour or so scrubbing the new golf cart, got some scuffs off and found out which were actual scrapes. Nothing serious and that a little touch up paint won't handle. Pneumonia seems over, O2 is back up 95-97, it don't feel like being stabbed when I breath.  Wife is gone with the car and will be tomorrow, kid is gone for the weekend.  I have no place to go and no desire to.  Going to do some cleaning and putting away groceries today in the kitchen.  Cook something she don't like, do often anyway but also try to make things she likes.

Tomorrow I am going to clean up my office aka my allotted corner of the dining room and desk.  Don't get me wrong, am glad we could step in on the Granddaughter but she is a Sr this year and plans to be out around Sept 1st when she turns 18, if not, OK, but she is living in what should be my office. ;D

Next week I will tackle the 500+ page draft I've worked on for years, find the rest of the information I want if it exists, I'm expecting about a year yet. may need more pictures, some from public domain will help.

Youtube has the remastered Dark Side up, 50th Anniversary one, wish I had a really good stereo and my ears from 50 years ago.  We listened to it last night with all this thing would do, wife was not impressed but let me get away with it.  The last track came on and somebody got up from at her feet and sat by me.  Old picture, but the does that all the time.

Ah Major, you are a better man than me.   I swear each time I put in a ceiling fan, it is my last.    I dislike ladders and have damaged shoulders enough that working above my head leaves me hurting for a few days.   That said, I think I have swore it was the last time, three times now.   Ha.    When you see the installation price, I usually think, well once more into the breach.

On-line guesstimate was $75-$95 per hour, average 1.5 -2 hours.

I had the old one down in about 20 minutes, assembled, wired and installed the new one in under an hour.
I did pace myself over about 3 hours though, but I figure I saved $150-$175 in actual labor.

However, I will put the painting off a day or so till masking is completed.

Well I gave them a try for lunch today, I was first rebuffed as the dine-in was closed, drive thru only.
They have varied menu of a theme , chicken buffalo style, wings, both conventual bone-in and the so call boneless.
Several sandwiches same basic flavors, and salads (zaleds).
Sadly nothing blackened, nada, zilch...I was saddened by that, not even offered
may be a regional thing Deacon  :-\

I opted for 5 mild boneless wings and 5 plain,  and blue cheese dip....

I was given a senior discount when I got to window just on sight alone...

and 15 Mild boneless whatevers and RANCH  ::)

Don't get me wrong, pleased by the discount ( which is 15 wings for the 10 wing price )
Except maybe 15 was a bit more that I should have had, and I like RANCH as much as the next guy...

But t'aint what I ordered,   :( tasty? was OK , I may go back and try something else, but I doubt it will be very soon...

Morning all.

65 headed to 80 here in the State of Jefferson. Not a cloud in the sky that I can see.

Plans for today include a good hike with the dog to set up some trail cameras. I don’t really use them for hunting so much as just seeing what’s out there. I’ve gotten some good video clips of foxes, and a couple of squirrels. The place I’m going today has a lot of black bears, so hopefully I’ll get some good videos of those.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are ready.

Sackett was supposed to have a track meet today, but it is raining.  :(
Going to a funeral this afternoon.

'Tis 35 and rain. "Much cooler. Cloudy. Rain showers likely in the morning  then a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Nearly steady temperature in the mid 40s. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent."

73° headed to 85°, rain expected this later afternoon into the evening, cooler by a several degrees tomorrow.

A bad wreck yesterday evening just down the road, took out the power poll and electricity in our area.
IDIOTS use Pinetree like a racetrack, speed limit is 40 but some pay that no never mind.
Apparently, the yahoo in a speeding small import sport sedan passed a car going east, and forced a Cadillac Escalade traveling west to swerve as near as they can sort it out.
The Escalade hit and snapped the power poll off at the base and was flipped on it passenger's side. The pole and transformer were on the ground and across the road.
The car that the idiot passed was involved with entire front plastic clip torn off. LEO's were looking for the perpetrator/idiot in the import sport sedan that caused it all.
They took someone(s) in the ambulance, but I don't know from which vehicle or both.
We figured we'd be without power for many hours, as the crews would have to replace the pole, install a transformer and re-string the downed wires.
Amazingly, we had power restored in about 1.5 hours.

Major, glad power was back on that quick. Pray the injured will be okay quickly and they find and castrate the import idiot. 56 here right now and raining, supposed to get to 71. Gunshow in town today and tomorrow, so we will be slow this morning at the LGS, then busy this afternoon when our regulars come in to tell us about the show. Hope you all have a good day.

The two streets just east of me are one way north and souths into downtown, still very busy although the major highways now route around.  Ricer sport bike race track at times.  Wes bad last night, a lot probably going 90-100 in a 35.  Called dispatch about midnight and asked if they had any spares to watch it.  Lady was nice and said no one had called yet and they had a couple they could spare.  Poor lady had trouble keeping it together when I told her I didn't want taxpayers money to have to clean up another mess this week. (We had one Tuesday clearly the bikes fault that sent two in SUV he T Boned to the hospital and rumor was there was quit a mess to pick up with a stick and a spoon.)  Then mentioned we have to look at faded plastic flowers for years, made a comment about a donor card should be required for sport bikes.  (The guy Tues day cut into the right turn lane and went through on a red light at a high rate of speed)

Sport bikes are becoming an unpopular topic around here.  They caught one a couple weeks ago at 134 in a 45.   Heard police car sirens about a half hour later and the organ donors either quit or went elsewhere.  Early last fall one hit the wall on a curved overpass and flipped over it and landed on the street down below, they said he was likely already dead when the car ran over him a couple seconds after impact. :P  Local paper FB page is interesting after one like that, most having sympathy but a growing movement to complain about the time and man power it costs the tax payers to clean up the mess and the amount of people in cars getting hurt also.

Strong storms yesterday afternoon, and early this morning, having just lifted the tornado watch & 50% chance of rain today, temps @ 80 for the high.

Living room painting project continues, I'm about 2/3 done.

Sport bikes are becoming an unpopular topic around here.
Here in Florida, every so often we see one on I-75 passing and weaving in and out of traffic going close to a 100 mph. My son bought a sport bike when he graduated from college just to piss me off.
He had it up to 134 mph on a nearby country road. Thank GOD I was eventually was able to convert him to a Harley. On a Harley you sit back and enjoy ride and the scenery.

Also attached is something for you old Wine Connoisseurs
