Duel Down Under
« on: February 08, 2006, 02:22:58 PM »
OK

Which of you, from accross the ditch, are comming to the Duel?

Just had it confirmed last night that I will be there. We put in for a lottery grant and they approved it.

5 members of the Papakura Sporting Pistol Club will be attending. We have a grant for the flights, the accomodation, car hire and entry fees.

We have been accepted by the lottery commision as a genuine sporting team and therefore eligible for such grants.

Looking forward to actually meeting some of you Aussie cowboys after all this time chatting on this board.

The ditch referred to is the Tasman sea. A large body of water to keep feuding cousins apart after they have had a few too many.

Similar to the Mason Dixon line, only wetter.

There is an ongoing rivalry between Australians and New Zealanders for the last 150 years. Convict blood vs free settlers. Who has the best beer??? etc. Do they own the large island continent to the West or do we have rights to the two islands to our east for use as our next penal colony.

In 1900 they could have become part of Australia when we became a federation. We don't want em now. We just argue abou it over "the ditch".

I love the description.

"The Ditch"  1200 miles at its closest.

Do you mean to say we dont own that piece of land to the west of us?

We have never offered the opportunity to be part of NZ as we naturally assumed that you were.

The only bit of land you may be able to claim is called "Bondi"
The Kiwis arrive here and set foot on the closest bit of land to NZ and it happens to be "Bondi" They never leave the area.
Gotta give them some credit though,

all the best crooks in Australia are New Zealanders.

all the best shearers in Australia are also New Zealanders.

I'll sort you lot out at the Mule Camp shoot. Local rules apply....only aussie or kiwi beer.

Don't mention Trevor Chappel or Brian McKecknie. It could get nasty.

Miss Ruby,

Great to hear from you. Loved shooting with you at the nationals.

We are flying down on Thursday afternoon. Leaving Auckland at 4pm. Havent been to the other island for 3 years. Should be ashamed to say that seeing as I was born down at Invercargill. As I have said there will be 5 of us from the Papakura club there.

Looking forward to meeting some of these Aussies I have been talking to.

Dai

One Eye, Snake, Jesse James, Tom.B.Stone and myself.  Tom.B.Stone is driving down and bringing all our long guns and ammo with him. He is also bringing his good lady "Miss Velvet".

The last I heard (from Margaret Brown of Pistol NZ) was that there is approx 22 of us coming over. Now, we will be able to discount Hannibal form that list as he will be shooting as a Kiwi, but it still will be a good turnout.

Molly Blade and I fly out of Sydney on Tuesday and head on down Wednesday (I think) as we are hiring a camper and hoping there will be enough space for us  :D :D.

Looking forward to it. 8) ;D :D :)

Mmmmmmmmm, we'll see..........  ;)

I'm only there to make noise and smoke.

Possibly to make a spectacle of myself in the nighttime.

other than that I'm planning on being an "also ran".

If by doing so I can stir things up a little so much the better.

Miss Ruby---- Are Kento and Lacie going to be there?

Give 'em hell, cousin Dai.

Send pictures.

Thank you kindly cousin Forty. Not counting on doing too well as the damaged wing is still giving me pain but I aim to make as much noise and smoke as possible so as to confuse them all.

I Figure that if they cant see the hit they have to give me the benifit according to the rules.

I'll see what I can do about pictures. I dont own a camera so I'll try and beg or borrow one.

Should be fun
