Howdy Friends:

I have just sent my information to Caleb with a request that he add me to the membership list.  I see a number of shooting acquaintances on the list already!

As some of you may know, after years of dedicated black powder shooting with both muzzle-loaders and cartridge guns, I switched into CAS .... in which I strayed from the Light and shot smokeless loads almost exclusively for quite a while.  Even disposed of most of my muzzle-loaders and C&B revolvers .....

Of late, however .... largely as a result of my increasing involvement in the Grand Army of the Frontier .... I have been rediscovering the Joys of the Holy Black, and have been re-acquiring more black firearms which fit into the TAPS time-frame and "approved list".

As some of you may have noted from recent posts on the Spencer Forum and The Barracks, I recently acquired a reproduction Spencer (rifle, not carbine) in .56-.50 and certainly hope to have some fun with it.  More recently (just this week, in fact) I received the first muzzle-loader I have purchased for quite a few years ....

It is a .62 cal. Hawken-style rifle I bought from a friend in Northern BC.  I suspect it was 'too big" for him (he isn't quite my size) .... but for me it holds like a dream.  I got it along with a .600 Lyman round ball mould for a price I simply couldn't refuse.  It was second-hand to him and he didn't know a whole lot about it.  The barrel is stamped "Adcock" .... a well-respected barrel-maker, I gather.  It appears to me that the rifle was most likely put together with Track of the Wolf components ....

I'm thinkin' it will go very well with the bison powder horn I made back in my "buckskinning" days ....

Nice rifle Grant;  Does it have any mention of "Fraser River Hawken." or "Taylor made"?

No external markings at all, other than "Adcock" on the top barrel flat.  Haven't gotten around to pulling the lock to see if that is marked internally .....

Yes, I had Googled for information, with little success .... I did, however, did come up with a couple of references on ML forums and such which implied that his barrels were quite highly regarded.  There seems to be nothing current, so I assume he is no longer active.
