Howdy Fellers,

I done bought me the Handi rifle in .357. My plan is to use it for cowboy long range pistol caliber. I haven't shot it yet, but I'm wondering how folks mount a tang sight on these things. I may not need one, but I thought I'd try to learn from some of the more experienced H&R owners here. I've seen some recommendations for mounting inserts in the stock wrist to screw the sight base into. This seems a bit more elegant than just using a couple of wood screws. 

By the way, What sight should I be looking for?

Any ideas would be appreciated,

Thanks, Cliff. I haven't used antler so I can't compare. I do like this one for burnishing large areas, though. It's easy to hold and you can run it around in any direction easily. I've been using the polished, rounded edge of piece of mahogany. I think this will get the job done faster. You can really bear down on it if you like but it doesn't seem to need that. I'll have to make something soon that needs the back burnished to know for sure.

Very interesting tool Marshal. I always use a piece of deer antler but this seems like a great tool for larger areas.

I bought one some time ago.  Works well with my round punches.  Not so much with my ovals 😂😂😂
